Hi Everybody.... I'm new here and suffer from depression and anxiety. This pandemic has taken a toll on me. I'm a outgoing person and love being social .. Lately I've become uninterested... feel isolated... unmotivated.. I can't sleep well at night. Three months ago I quit smoking for health issues. Last week I lost my job. I'm on medication for years and there is no magic pill for this pandemic. Any suggestions?

Welcome to the group. No there is no magic pill, but the closest thing are the Benzos (Xanax, Ativan, Klonipin etc.) That's the only thing that works for me, but sadly they are addictive and you build up a tolerance. So I only take them every few days. As far as sleep goes I take a low dose of Remeron, an anti-depressant. Works pretty good. Hope things get better for you.

The pandemic sucks bad. Thousands of families lost loved ones, millions lost heir jobs. You are not alone. About the pnly thing we can do is to work to have it addressed more effectively.

This is hard for anyone. Someone who is outgoing and social often pulls their energy from other people. So when isolated we are stuck pulling that energy from ourselves. You are going to have to create that energy. Try different combinations of exercise, musics, movies, etc that are all positive. There is essential work out there right now. It may not be the job you want after the pandemic, but it might be what you need to mentally help get you through. Find a friends who need to get out too, and walk with them. Post out to the people you know and say I need to get out of this house, does anyone want to do anything or need help with anything? Maybe someone could use help around their house. At this point interaction is interaction. Do what you need to do to maintain. You have to get creative. I hope this helps, but that is what I have been doing to get through it. I even planted a raised bed garden in baskets just to keep my mind busy. Whatever works.

Hey there and welcome!👋

So sorry for your situation. All we can do is take care of ourselves. Make sure you get some fresh air every day. I think the worst part about this pandemic is not knowing when things will go back to normal. I so wish I could travel back home to the States (I live in Norway).

It has been very difficult for everyone. I know MD's have sent a letter to the WHITE HOUSE that they believe that the negative ramifications on patient health due to the lockdown is worse than the risks of COVID 19. Have you thought about counseling?
