Just joined! I have issues excoriation or picking at calluses, cuticles, nails, itching, etc.. What has helped you the most at reducing this? I feel like I’ve tried different things over and over and nothing seems to help.

New to Group Support - Need Help


For my nails and cuticles, I have tried a variety of different things, some helped; others didn’t. I have tried those “polishes” that are supposed to keep you from biting them, I have placed bandaids on all of my fingers. That somewhat helped. I have found that keeping something to fidget with is what works best for me. I usually will carry a pen or pencil, a clicker, anything I can mess with.
I have a major problem with picking the skin off the bottom of my feet. I’ve tried so hard to stop but every time I relapse. One thing that’s helping a little now is wearing knee socks under skinny jeans so it’s impossible to access my feet. But summer is coming so I won’t be able to do this any longer. I also pick my fingernails and wearing elbow length gloves isn’t really an option so that’s a problem. If anyone has a magic cure, please share it!
I do the exact same thing - picking skin off the bottom of my feet. I relapse a lot but one thing that helps a little is using peppermint oil cream. It helps heal my feet but it also keeps me from chewing / picking at my fingers because peppermint oil irritates my eyes and doesn’t taste great. Helps keep my hands away from my face for a little bit anyway.
