It’s not a panic attack!!

After so many years where doctors kept saying that I have panic attacks and anxiety and I am crazy, that my pain is in my mind, I’ve found that I have some sort of bacteria in my gut, which doctors don’t know which one exactly. Apparently is not Helicobacter Pylori as the endoscopy and the stool tests were negative. After the first day with the antibiotics I started feeling like 5 years ago, fresh, full of life and no more symptoms. Guys, trust your gut, you know better than any doctor what is wrong with you. Often doctors will give you anxiety or panic attacks diagnosis because they can’t be asked or do not know what to do.

Stay safe,

It's not always Anxiety... unfortunately it can become a "catch all"

when doctors know you are an anxious person. I'm glad you followed

your instincts (gut feeling) and got some help. :) xx

Thank you!🙂

Thanks for sharing your experience here. Hope you feel much better post antibiotic course. So finally what made them give you antibiotics ?

I am having lot of gas for a month now and other strange symptoms which doctors are associating with stress and anxiety of current situation. I personally don’t think I am anxious at the moment and it’s the symptoms that makes me stressful rather than other way around.

Some doctors will diagnose the way you feel about the symptoms rather than the actual problem. Always trust yourself, you know better than others what is wrong with you.

in reply toThat_mountain_girl

I was on antibiotics for chronic sinusitis.

I personally feel mine is gut related too but as long as it’s not life threatening at this point doctors here aren’t seeing anyone personally or recommending tests.

Hopefully you will find your answers after this covid19 situation. Can I ask what symptoms do you have?

I suddenly had lot of gastric issues which may or may not have been triggered by vitamin D deficiency.

This was followed by excessive burping and chest pain and under arm pain for roughly a week. I do get burps even now but much less than it was 10 days back. No stomach aches.

Now I have painful and maybe mildly swollen (not sure)hands with sometimes prominent veins and that’s when I feel pain. Sometimes I think it’s related to food as burping seems to release them pressure off my back. This has been there for 2 days but i rested my hands today and it seems better. Why has my arms become so weak suddenly. I can walk fine.

Can I recomend probiotics? They help a lot with digestion and gut health. Even if it doesnt fix the issues, it is a start!

I thought about it but not sure of probiotic supplements. Is there anything specific that you would recommend?

I am trying to include miso, yogurt and fermented food in diet .. hope that helps

Here is a good article on how to choose what option is best for you. I have a weird disorder that makes me vomit and screws up my digestive system. Probiotics changed my life.

amazon.com/dp/B081SBWXS8/re...

This is the brand I use. It doesnt make my issues go away, but it helps me control the symptoms till medicine can figure out more about how to fix my disorder.

Even if they can't completely fix whats wrong, they may be able to ease the pain and give you back more regularity.

I am very happy for you that you got true answers. I have often said I felt like they are diagnosing people with mental illness because they just don't know. I have often times felt like I don't have the diagnoses that they say I have which is anxiety and depression. While some of the symptoms I do posses, however all the over thinking that I have been told I am doing, half the time I'm not thinking about nothing. I agree with That_mountain_girl, the thing that stresses me out is the symptoms. Your post just made my day, thanks. :)

in reply toBluetj

And also, I don’t know but it’s the way doctors talk to you that makes you believe what they say. Also it’s worth mentioning I have medical background but none would take it seriously. Hope you will find your answers.

As I do as well. I think that has always helped me in

weeding out anxiety issues vs physical issue. We still

need to talk over our concerns with our doctor(s) :) xx

Let me add to my response TeodorM. I don't want everyone not believing that

Anxiety can and does cause many physical issues prompted by stress. There is a

close connection with the gut and the brain. The gut has been known as the

second brain. Anxiety and stress causes a disruption in our body making physical

ailments such as IBS come to surface.

Of course a bacteria or virus is different and must be treated differently than

anxiety and panic attack. So many studies have been done on the connection

of the brain and gut which is sometimes hard to distinguish w/o having physical

testing done. I just wanted to make it clear to others that many physical issues

have a base root of anxiety and stress which should not be taken lightly.

Whatever the issue is, working on reducing fear and worry can play a big part

in healing. :) xx

Too many antibiotics will kill the good guy bacteria, so prebiotics and probiotics in a healthy diet are important.

in reply toLazy_dog_lover

That is true but usually after 2 hours from taking the antibiotic I take probiotics or drink Yokult

hi! This is interesting to me!

For probably a decade or more, I have tried to find out what else is wrong with me. I've gone to so many different doctors to figure it out because I don't believe it's just anxiety. I'm trying to " trust my gut" but all the doctors are making me believe it's just anxiety. Along the way I found it I was allergic to gluten, so I completely stopped eating it and I felt better, but everything else I'm feeling never went away. I feel like I have some sort of digestive issues. I'm always bloated, sometimes gassy, I have an extremely hard time losing weight (and I eat really healthy!). I'm about 30 lbs over weight and no matter how hard I try, it seems almost impossible. I'm always dizzy every single day that I wake up and have to take lorazepam just to function. I constantly worry that someday I'm going to get stomach cancer from something that doctors constantly over look. This has been my life for over a decade, and I don't know what else to do anymore.

in reply to

Sorry to hear that you are struggling for so long. Did your doctor test you for Pylori? I heard from some doctors, Pylori can trigger Celiac disease. Had the dizziness as well, bloated, belching so hard and so often that it stopped me from breathing properly.

With me, during the period when I was ill I was loosing weight too fast. That’s what caused me cancer scare. The endoscopy + colonoscopy disproved it. Although the endoscopy said no Pylori but the treatment for it helped me.

in reply to

No I've never been tested. To be honest with you, doctors have always just rushed me along. “ nothing is wrong with you”. I used to cry and get so mad because I know there is something wrong! The way I feel everyday is NOT normal. Pile on being tired and achey all over my body as well... but apparently, nothing is wrong! I think I know my body...

I should ask about this test. How do they do it?

in reply to

You can ask for a test. It’s either a stool or a breathe check. They will give you a pill that you need to take and after they will ask you to blow air in a recipient and it will tell them if there is a bacteria in your stomach. The stool one is just a sample that you need to give for labs. Or apparently the best one is an endoscopy which can look for other issues plus the Pylori as they take a sample from the stomach.

Do not buy the do home test as they are very inaccurate.

You need to insist with your GP to test you as this is not normal. The doctors would tell me the same that I am fine it’s just in my mind. That’s when I had enough and started to tell the doctor NO! I am not, do something.

Just a note, 13 different hospitals from 3 different countries told me that I have panic attacks and anxiety.

in reply to

Thank you for this info...

And wow... All of those doctors. I thought it was bad that every specialist in my area would say the same thing to me. a handful of all different doctors , " you're fine"....
