Letter to a close friend

I've started writing notes to my closest friend. It's just easier sometimes than trying to say what's on my mind.

Does anyone else do this?

I am much better at writing my thoughts than expressing them verbally. I had a psychiatrist tell me decades ago that letters are very beneficial, especially when it is something upsetting. A letter gives the reader the opportunity to re- read and consider their reaction to the information before responding. Even texting... I used to hate texting but now have grown to appreciate it as it has given me time to consider my response in stressful situations. Im 67.... you would think I should have learned all that by now, lol. 😉

:) I don't think there's an age limit on learning.

When my oldest child was going through some issues we were seeing a therapist. She encouraged him to write and often even if not sent to the recipient he would take them to her. One was to me and he agreed for her to share, and she told me about the differences in the writing. How some seemed regular, but harder truths were written in smaller and lighter prints. The tougher things were to 'say' the smaller the work ngf was, As he spent several years confined, I noticed this in letters he sent me. Not sure if there is any hard study behind it, but it was applicaple to him, and I noticed the same in much older things I had written and saved. Just wanted to share that.

Yes, I'm sure there's a connection between handwriting and your frame of mind. I've seen it in my own script!

I used to write everything, especially when I was mad, getting it out was tremendous even I'd nooneread it!!! Unfortunately with all my other issues I've developed horrible (and hereditary) arthritis in my hands. Swype is my savior, and I compose many, even if never send. Even with long days on a keyboard for work, I love my swype and I'm probably one of those people who needs an 'if I die, please clear my phone/tablet' disclosure!

Never stop what works for you!!!!

I didn't know there was such a disclosure available. Lol.

I try to be optimistic, but beyond that, enter the wrong password to many times and it erases for you. CYA always.

I have sent note cards on occasion or have texted. It's a great idea to tell someone how special they are. ♥️🤗X
