I just had a telephone visit with my doctor. She said, in general, people gain 10-20 pounds on antidepressants like Lexapro. I’m on 10mg. I’ve gained about 5 pounds in two months. I’m also having a bit more hair loss. Does anybody notice fewer side effects on 5mg? My doctor said she really couldn’t say that people gain less weight on the lower dose but that some people do quite well on that dose even though 10mg is technically supposed to be the lowest dose.
I really don’t want to gain more weight and lose more hair. How do you decide whether to stay on the antidepressant or not?

I packed on the weight and I am still far to heavy even though after thirty years and a reduction in dose I feel overweight and have given up the ghost.
I am also loosing my hear over the last decade however I still have a very thin mop of hair and a monk cut on the crown
