Home bound due to scary virus going around. I'm able to work at home but I think I like working at work better. This is too isolating. But it's not the virus itself creating my anxiety, it's my fear of not being able to take care of things, like getting my dog in to the vet or just getting what I need at the store. And I'm a very private person, even posting this scares me to death, but I need connection with my community.

Hello, Tclaire and welcome to the Forum! I understand exactly how you feel, as it is definitely very hard to live in isolation....especially when none of us know when we will be able to come out of this isolation and begin moving about, out in the world again. I also read your profile intro and I, also, am a highly sensitive person, so I totally get where you are coming from about being a private person, etc. And I think “sensitive people” tend to internalize and feel anxiety in a more intense way than the average person....so I think dealing with the fear and isolation can be even harder to deal with for people like us.

Just know that you have come to the right place to receive encouragement from like minded people that understand how you feel. I hope this post will be an encouragement to you and again, welcome to the Forum! 🌸🌷🌸🌷🌸

Thank you so much, I completely agree. I've actually been "accused" of feeling things deeply, which I don't perceive (anymore) as a weakness, but have come to realize it as a strength. I am a peer in recovery, but still, like everyone else, have bad days.

You are very insightful and and I appreciate it very much...also...your name suits you, it's very beautiful. I took mine from a very regal family pet who thought she was human. We thought so too. Thank you again for your warm welcome.

You are very welcome, Tclaire! Awww, thank you very much! I am a night owl, love roses and the story of Sleeping Beauty....her nickname was Briar Rose....so i put all of them together to create the name!

I know exactly what you mean about being told you are "too sensitive", as i grew up with my parents, as well as many other people telling me that. It was so hard to deal with, but now I, also, know that it is not a weakness, but a major strength! And we are Blessed to have this ability!

All the best to you! 💖💖💖

Hi Tclaire.

I know this post was about 10 months ago, but I hope you made some friends and doing well. I understand your fear of the virus and such in the world. I caught it in November and the doctors are thinking I have it again somehow.

I grew up "overly-sensitive" as well. I wanted to share with you something my friend told me a while ago when I was upset about my sensitivity.

She said because I was so sensitive I was able to know better than others when someone was going through a rough time, and that I was able to think through how something could effect someone better than anyone she knew. And that because of those two things I was able to be a great friend, and help others even before they/I knew what I was doing.

That being said, I want you to know that even if you haven't tried to or realized it, you've probably done the same thing. You've helped someone without even realizing it because of how you feel deeper than others. You sound like a great person, so you've probably helped lots of people!

This Forum has helped me quite a bit, so I hope you're getting help and positivity as well.

Sending electronic hugs and good feelings your way!

Hi StormyWillow,

Thank you so much for your kind words. While I used to think I was weak, I don't anymore. I've also learned that others who are struggling can benefit from my message in the same way that I benefit from theirs. We are our own community and I wouldn't have it any other way. I am deeply grateful for this community of peers who truly understand and appreciate each other. I work during the day, from home, so I can only grab snippets of time here and there. I'm so happy for your reply as I don't post very much just due to job and household chores. I'm getting up there in age so I don't operate as quickly as I once did. I'm okay with that but I would like to gradually get more involved here. Thank you for the hugs and good feelings, back at'cha.
