I didn't know you could be terrified for such an extended time. Can Night Terrors lead to mental illness ? How long after a dream does the scary feeling last? I am in such a bad way I hope someone answers me. Pam

So terrible for you. At least at the moment you can know that half the world is probably terrified with you too.

Be safe ...

i often experience nightmares. sometimes they have to do with my personal experiences of sometimes they are nightmare of me feeling trapped and out of control. i understand that you may be scared to go to sleep again because you fear that you will have another nightmare. i cannot lie the truth is that you may or you may not only you will know but what i will tell you is that you should, every time you wake up, scared from a night terror, remind yourself that its just a dream. simply put its not real and cant harm you. try deep breathing if you wake up breathless from a bad dream. during the day you should try to find the source. meaning that you should find out what is making you so anxious that your subconscious is making it into a nightmare. maybe if you can work through your issues in real life you can work through them in your dreams as well

it depends on the dream usually the dreams which are based off my personal life scare me a bit but after a while it got better. i promise you it will get better with time but you must remember to assure yourself that it was just a dream and that you are safe.

hi pam I came across mayoclinic.org and it has some information on sleep terrors it might be of some help hopefully.

Hello pet

If you are not sleeping well and having Nightmares it can affect you Mental Health as it would be having negative effects on your Sleep Stages.

What do you feel is causing your Nightmares, are you eating supper just before bed, or getting upset watching programs that are worrying you before bed ?

This all started when you added the Wellbutrin, I think you were coming off it? Even with tapering I would have thought you should be near enough off it now. Then it will take a while for the residue to clear your body.

Can I suggest as I did before that your doctor gives you enough xanax or diazepam to take daily for a couple of weeks to counteract the terrors until the Wellbutrin that clearly disagrees with you clears your system.
