Hi lovely people, I’m in the uk and looking for self help/ calm / meditation apps ?? But they need to be free with no charges after a trial or after a week etc .. don’t want to get caught out with a huge monthly bill .. does anybody know of any or use any .. I’ve googled but would like recommendations please .

I’m looking for free apps too but I live in US the ones I know of you can use free at first but if you want to unlock new meditations it costs ya. Although there is someone named Tara Brach if you go to tarabrach.com you can check out her free meditations and she has talks/reflections for free as well.

You tube has many channels that have calming music, guided meditation etc.... if all else fails look on YouTube

There is one youtube channel, Babu relax tv that has these virtual reality environments. I really love the cabin ones with a crackling fireplace, howling wind and snow falling. I find them so relaxing. :)

I have the Calm app. (think there's a suggested list on this site). They have free & paid excess stuff ($60 US a year). They have music, different meditations, breathing exercises, stories & a daily mood check- which I like, closest thing I get to journaling, plus can try to see if pattern to your anxiety depression.

Try you tube? I found some there. You can have it sent to your email so you’ll able to hear it when you want.

I live in the US, but I imagine these would be available anywhere. Some of them do have extra features that cost money but I've never used those and got plenty of use out them. These are all on my phone right now and I use them all for various different things, but I think my favorite is rootd. It has a red button you can press in the midst of an anxiety or panic attack and a very calming voice will tell you calming things like "you are okay", "what you're feeling can't hurt you", etc. Those affirmations are really calming for me, but as I say, I like all these apps for different reasons.

- rootd

-Calm

- Headspace

- Clear Fear

- Dare

- Stop, Breathe & Think

And finally, to keep track of how I feel different days so I know how different therapies or medications are working, I use the app called Reflectly that helps me track my moods and feelings.

Insight Timer. I love the app, it's free... yes you can of course buy, I've used for well over a year now and felt no need, anything I've needed is free. I use android, not sure if it's available for apple, but worth a look.

Do a search for Andrew Johnson and download all the free ones. The apps are in both Google Play and the Apple Store.

Headspace is my favorite. It's a meditation and relaxation app with both free and paid content.

Daylio is a great daily mood journal with amazing tracking and visualizations to keep track of your moods, progress, etc.

I use these regularly:

(The audio recordings from the Univ. of Virginia are free. The recommended CDs from Jon Kabat-Zinn are not.)

Hope they help you!
