I actually have a smartphone, so I don't have to ever log onto a computer, except for work. For me, computers are synonymous to work and get-me-out-here feelings.
my Mrs did get me a good phone about 10 year ago had it a matter of days tried wishing my mates girlfriend happy birthday it was more like yltyhbj.m;'jolgd as I just couldn`t get the hang of it so it got boxed up sent back exchanged it for the beloved Nokia brick phone.
I use Walmart over Amazon, simply because I like returning at a brick-and-mortar store. But I have an Amazon echo that is really convenient to have at home.
yes had a puncture and no spare no means of emergency contact…..your memory is good ….thanks likewise ….since found out some bright spark thought it a great idea to just hide a can of tyre weld in the boot instead .
Yes life lesson learned the hard way ….umbrellas snap in high winds …..I was very attached to that umbrella it was expensive had a nice grip ….loved it until it epically failed on me …thanks for the reminder
I was given a new apple I pad for free by the charity I volunteer with it`s never been used sat in my drawer for 2 years as I don`t have a clue how to work them it came with free 2 year usage and that recently ran out.
I got a free mini ipad many years ago, but it was annoying to lug around. So I gave it to my daughter. I'd rather have my smartphone that's half the size. I never seem to use it like a real phone, like the ones where you put it up to the ear.
Omg! I watched a docu about scammers! I knew they were rife but didn’t realise there were compounds the size of prisons around the world full of them and many are held captive too!
Luckily being a technophobe I don’t trust the net. I even had an exchange unknowingly with AI customer services and when the penny dropped I told it “We aren’t the sharpest robot in the drawer are we!” 😂
I don’t know….that’s a lot to think about. I can’t delete my email app, HU, photos, camera, YouTube, NOAA, local weather, six news apps from different countries, contacts, safari, pbs, fart app and a few more . But there’s a few that I could do without. Like, I don’t need a measurement app or a drawing app or shopping apps or a timer app or the app that lets me feed into a camera in a persons open storage space. That’s boring until a critter walks through . I’m not awake in the middle of the night anyway if a burglar is doing his thing. Sorry, for my meandering, sometimes I get carried away. Lol
My service made me upgrade to keep from raising my rates. Such a pain in the ass. I had to get a new router, extender, longer ethernet cord, reset all my devices. Was on text with them for 2 hours until they botched the whole discussion by transferring me to someone else. I was begging them to just give me a freaking call, that I just couldn't text everything I went through for another 2 hours. They wouldn't call until I finally had it and tried to find a live person.
I recently took out a new contract,17 days ago ….there’s another internet company rolled up yesterday saying they’re pulling in super duper fast broadband into my place November 5 …..so I called the company I’m with ( crappy slow connection) …they said £500 to break contact a it’s been 16 days and it’s a 14 day cool off period….timer goes off for dinner…..ok I said but do your best find me a loophole….anyway same as you he said I can upgrade your package today send out more plug in tech stuff and then you get a 14 day cool off ( wink wink 😉) ….so smelling burning cinders I said ok …..so I’m getting more equipment, for a small £12 postage fee pay an extra £10 …then cancel next week …they said I can cool off but keep it for up to 3 months …dinner is black and extra crisp by this point.
When I finally had it with the new equipment, I asked them to just release me from the new contract, and they said I'd have to pay for the router and extender. I was like, wtf. Nothing burning on my stove, but I was hot as hell. But everything's working now. I just have a 50 foot ethernet cable running along the molding from one end of the house to the other. Hopefully, your situation is all squared away.
who needs the apps and internet, just get a small laptop instead, don't swish your phone in the middle of the street,[or losing or breaking them?] inane conversation, useless information stuffed down your 'earhole', if you want that sort of💩, do it at home, you can get the price of vegetables, etc, the sex life of your new neighbour and a bit more privately via your call and text phone or your wee laptop [at home] IF you REALLY NEED it🙄, plus it works out cheaper?😤🤭 [plus you don't have to keep upgrading the bl###y things {expensive🤑}]
Nope! just a retired prospective writer, I'll admit pictures are not too good via call and text senior mobile, I do have a Olympus VH-210 although battery run out on that😒
The site will be closed down for maintenance on Halloween. There’s a banner across the top of the page (not here, just when you click on A&D. ) It starts early but don’t know when it will be done. Blimey…they could have waited til Grilled Cheese Day. 🦇🎃👻👽🤷♀️
That's interesting. You just made me realize my three apps are inwardly driven, stuff to fill up the empty spaces in my day. Your apps are about communication.
I don't like talking on the phone either. I'm finding its a pretty common quirk. It creates a lot of anxiety for me. I think it's because a phone call always comes with the risk of it being bad news.
I feel the same way, even though I can fill up silence, if needed. I just feel like I'm just talking about a lot of nonsense and expended energy that I need to put towards other things. Like resting 😁.
Yeah the generational gap is noticable, especially within certain servers/communities where there are a lot of GenZ’ers and younger - where you can easily feel out of sync. But, perhaps I am merely biased, millennials by and large often get excited to have anyone “older” around in that space!
But if you ever need an extra pair of eyes or ears on something that goes on in Discord, feel free to shoot me a PM and I am happy be a sounding board!
My older brother and I have a 15 year gap between us, so he is also a mighty Gen X’er and through his lens, your outlook on Discord is very relatable, he goes through much of the same thing.
That's funny. My brother is a millennial. He's the one that introduced me to social media when he was in high school. It was some platform called Xanga. I thought it was the weirdest thing. I actually only opened up an account to stay connected with him because he was more like a son than a brother from being so far apart in age. Even now, I only social media to check on him.
