How do you keep high spirits at work?

Today I am absolutely dreading work. I'm not physically tired, just mentally exhausted. people keep saying things will improve but honestly I don't see it happening. Depression sucks!

I can assure you with time and work things get better.

Hearing it in the beginning feels like a joke.

All of us here are in different stages of the process. This is a good place to be for support.

Work is tough. You have to put that "mask" on to get through It.

Try and have the best day you can. Idk of you meditate or like music. I'm not sure if your job allows you to skip away for a quick relaxing meditation. Deep breaths always work for me.

Best of luck today.

Thank you for responding. I really appreciate it. I don't meditate but I love music, especially classical music like, Chopin, Wagner, et cetera.

That's perfect.

Try and have a good day.

Its always lingering in my back ground. It’s how I react to it when rears it’s ugly head that matters.

You work on the things you can control, those words fake it till you make it is used a lot here. I did that for years, but wished I hadn’t. I should have gotten help in the early stages. So Keeping your head above water so to speak may need intervention you cannot do on your own. Therapy may be just what you need, meds may or may not help. Meditation, relaxing techniques, music, finding support like being here.

It takes hard work and honestly we’ll always be a work in progress. You find tools, strategies, anything you have to to over come the parts that keep you spinning backwards.

But you can manage it, and you can become better.

Thank you so much. I do agree that I need therapy. If possible, I'll start that soon.

oh spirits. like soul spirits. haha

My absolutely great-working method is as follows: You know your tasks. Prioritize them. Then (very important) you will calmly take a minute or five and vizualize doing those tasks like you are the top elite pro in that task, you will do it great, no matter what anyone says. Think that thought few times, vizualize it in your head - how your fingers type, how you make presentation that makes people applaud, how you just nail the task.

You exclude any reason, results, anything. You will only think about you being great at doing that thing.

Then you go and do the thing.

This technique helps me with concentration a lot. I stop thinking about why, and if, and what if's, I stop thinking about people for whom I do it. I just do it to prove to myself I am super great at that task. I am better than hardcore japanesse students or german CEO's.

..

Works like a charm, mate, try it.

The point is - you will reach sort of a flow, a state where you will feel no matter what you do, it comes easy for you, regardless of knowledge or hardships. It will be a bliss to meet more problems and you will want more challenges, you are the boss elite, and it comes so easy for you you enjoy small sidetasks. Man I am even getting pumped up just writing this.

And with that flow, you will realize that you are this strength and mental state and you don't really care what task or job you do. You ARE that good. And you can easily chose at your own discretion what you do and where you apply your focus.

Lmao Call it dutch/liquid courage but I feel so comfortable when I drink. Not just that surprisingly my brain seems to work faster than usual. Every short story/song/painting I have made/written was in a state of inebriation. If I could I would literally keep a bottle.

But anyway, I will try your method. Seems promising.

Coffee and chocolates help me. It use to be cigarettes many years ago, but I gave those up with meds. Also, I try very hard to only focus on one thing at a time. If people come at me with multiple requests, I jot it all down and pick the most important thing to work on and not think about anything else. If they've got a problem with it, I just say screw it in my head and tell myself that's their problem not mine. If I do need to do multiple things, I break it down to smaller things to focus on at shorter lengths of time so that I'm still focusing on one thing technically.
