Book club, cooking, biking, star gazing, volunteering (e.g. soup kitchen), group events at the library (meditations, lectures). Anything with other people is the key really, get the oxytocin flowing. Good luck, let us know what you try.
When I start feeling low I try to work on my russian. It takes alot out of me and I feel like I think faster and clearer afterwards and I feel a sense of accomplishment. Sometimes if do stereotypical "relaxing" things like scrolling through pinterest or watching a movie I stay in the same bad place or get worse even.
I sleep a lot to run away from my anxious mind.
But when I’m in a better mood i learn graphic design via Adobe After effects, it helps me focus on things other than my sick thoughts.
