I am finding it difficult to know where to focus my energy when not working. I am thinking of taking some evening classes but not sure whether I should learn art or learn a language. I have also considered joining a choir. Depression is making it hard for me to know what I would really care to pursue.

How can I decide what to focus on in my free time?
Definitely do something that involves others, whether it’s volunteering, or group gardening or boating or whatever. Sometimes I think it’s more about the social contact than the actual thing. Book clubs are great cause they mix the the introvert with extrovert. Local arts are good too.
Try an activity you enjoy but perhaps not things that you measure success objectively like taking a class. It could lead to feeling discouraged if u don’t progress as well as u like or think you should.
Even maybe start small like a book club, walking club/group or something that does not put u under pressure with deadlines?! A distraction can be many things too not always structured. It could be taking a sketch pad or journal to a park bench with a cup of coffee or whatever. It could be listening to music in the park or wherever it’s playing. You could take a class in meditation to help you relax and clear your mind after working.
Just my 2 cents worth but do what makes you feel good about yourself and gives you confidence.
