Antidepressants

So I'm new here and I have a question... I was prescribed antidepressants by my doctor like a 1 week and half ago. I was prescribed escitalopram 10 mg (daily) and trazodone 100 mg (every night). This is my first time on antidepressants and I decided to do some research on them and supposedly your not supposed to take both because it could lead to serotonin syndrome and now I'm scared to take trazodone because of this reason... I've been taking escitalopram everyday so far but I skipped trazodone 4 times now... I'm just really scared to take it but the times I didnt take it I wasnt able to sleep the whole night. So I dont know what to do... any advice?

Call your drs. office and tell his/her nurse of your concerns. It's possible s/he may find another med for you, or reassure you about possible side effects of mixing the two. I strongly believe letting your dr. know of concerns is the best way to address them, as well as keeping communication lines open. Good luck! 😊

Hi, I take 50 mg daily of cymbalta for my depression/anxiety, at bed time I take 100 mg of trazadone and 7 1/2 mg Mertazapine for sleep, I have no problems. Please talk to your Dr. tell him/her of your fears. Talk to us here people like myself can reassure you of the safety. Sending you peace of mind, love and hugs....Sprinkle 1....
