Everyone responds differently to medication. Best way to know is to try. The Web or your doctor should have details about the chemistry of how it works.
Pinkstarr, I was on fluoxitine( Prozac) for a while. It didn't seem to do much for me, so it was replaced with another med.. You might want to give it a try for about a month and see how you react to it.
I was on Prozac for 10 years and it worked great for me, I sadly built up a tolerance to it and was then put on Zoloft, same thing happened, then it has been pill roulette I am now on Cymbalta 50 mg, 100 mg Desyrel, and 1300 mg Gabapentin, weaning off of Matazapine.
I have a woman friend who has been on Prozac for over 30 years and it does her well.
If you are going to give it a try, take it for at least 6 weeks, it takes the brain about that much time to adjust, I had very little side affects and they wore off quickly. When you get the prescription filled ask for a drug print out. Also go on line and check it out. I hope it works for you, it is one of the best SSRI's on the market.
I wish you well and peace of mind....Sending love/hugs.....Sprinkle 1......
