What has happened to the business world?!

I haven't had to look for a job since 2011. That year, and many before, I would register with an agency or put my resume on something like Monster.com, I'd go through one interview, and, bam! I'm hired, or at least, start temp-to-perm and always be taken on permanently. And that was in a MAJOR metroplex type area. Now looking for a job in a smaller, but still pretty major city. So I understand, smaller market, but I have had three jobs in 23 years, so average nearly 8 years at each one, and only left when laid off, or now, moving to another state. And evidently, my work history isn't good enough for this place?! I've applied to dozens of appropriate jobs, scaled my salary demands WAY back, have been on only 5 or so serious interviews. The latest started with a phone interview, then an interview with the major manager, then a sort of "team" interview, that I thought went very well, it changed my mind about the job in a positive way. But then today, they called, said they were emailing me some "style of influence" test, which then they never did. So what has happened that now they do psychological tests for a pretty middle of the road "worker bee" type job? I'm not looking to become a CEO, so why do they trust some BS test over their own eyes and ears and a solid work history?! Not to mention all the US citizenship BS hoops and background checks? I'm US born, parents and grandparents, most of the greats, too. But it seems businesses now start from a position of major distrust of their potential workforce!!! I can't take this, I have major distrust, too, and major anxiety and depression, but I get out there, I'm honest, I admit I'm not perfect, but I have a good work ethic, I show up! What is the problem?! Our politicians and business leaders are general shyts, if not downright criminals, but their workforce must be phuccin paragons of phuccin virtue?! And 90% of them haven't served this country in the military, and I have, but I'm not good enough to work for THEM?! Sorry, this is my phucced up brain thinking this, but still! What is going on with our country?!

I'm not sure how old you are. But, it's known as we get older our chances of getting a job get harder.

They also won't hire someone over qualified for a position.

Don’t take offense, their request definelty is not a company distrusting you to work for them. Plus HR usually has a set of paper work they request based on type of position and they might not even put too much emphasis on this. Background checks have been the norm since forever, I’m 51 and always had to do background test and even drug tests as well.

The influence test provides info on how you influence others. Think things like rationalizing, asserting, negotiating. In short This will reveal a little about your communication skills.
