Ummm, pardon me for asking but I gotta. This is your child she is carrying, right? No doubt? Just checking, no offense. You know by now that pregnant females are VERY moody and YOU did that to her, no matter how much she rode you screaming in pleasure you're the one who dumped inside her. Thinking back to my first marriage, about 44 yrs. ago. Still no changes eh? Does she live with you? Did she move out or just cuss you out and leave? Anywhere else she can go to be safe for awhile, friends, family? Maybe things were said, or not said, but give it time...I know, it's very hard to do at this stage of the game...but let it set and time will ensure cooler heads prevail. Does she love you or just tolerate you for lack of a support system? I found out the hard way that most couples do go through a first marriage learning curve. They have a kid, things get tough (usually finances), and now it's all your fault. Regardless. Divorce and you get whatever is left, plus child support and hope the hell she has a support system cause you sure don't want to pay alimony. Knew a guy who married a girl already had a kid. He was in love so adopted the kid. Then they divorced and guess who gets to pay child support for a kid that wasn't his? After my divorce it was 20 yrs. later before I remarried. It was good and bad, up and down, but isn't that life. She passed last January. I've been in a rut ever since. Don't think I'm coming out of this one. Once a bachelor has been domesticated it's difficult for him to return to his feral ways. Take care, I wish you the best. Really I mean that. Been there done that. Not fun.

As far as I know child is mine. She didnt live with me was planning on her moving in.not my first child but my first with her. Shes younger than me misses her ex who killed himself on drugs

Oh no. An ex whom she still mourns. And unless you pull some hero stuff in the near future you're just the guy who knocked her up. Women go batty when pregnant. I hate to say this but if she wasn't living with you now, she may never. When you two are together she is your soul mate, life mate. But are you hers? Honestly, who puts more into this relationship? Hate to dampen your spirits but life is like that. The crap has already hit the fan so there's nothing to do but clean up and be prepared for another day. You'll find out tomorrow. If she goes then let her. I know it'll be very difficult but if she doesn't want to be with you she won't. And courts give women the upper hand in child custody cases. Best of luck. And DO NOT let her see you cry. No matter how much it hurts she'll interpret that as weakness, not loss of affection.

Why would you say that? I'm trying to help prop up a guy whose girl left him. Just because I'm sympathizing doesn't mean the girl is an evil person. I'm old enough to have seen this very same story play out time and again. Whether she returns or not he still must face life every day. I'm just trying to give him another way of looking at his situation and how to possibly avoid it in the future should this one not work out. But I am hoping for the best for him. It disturbs me that you feel that way. I honestly cannot see anything I said that would indicate such. Sorry to bother you.

No it didn't bother me, but it's the way you said women go batty when pregnant, and that the courts give them priority. I don't think it's so much the case these days, but don't forget for centuries women had no rights at all over their children (and still don't in some countries) and I have never heard of any man thinking this was unfair.

When women are pregnant they don't go 'batty' but it's true their hormones are all over the place, but men need to understand this instead of getting annoyed, having rows, or storming off to the pub. I have seen plenty of that! x

Again, my apologies. I am well aware of the sad treatment of women in the past as well as currently. Perhaps "batty" is too harsh from a woman's perspective, but he sure knew what I meant. He said nothing about being annoyed, having a row or going to the pub. He was depressed and asked for our advice. I was speaking to him man-to-man; unfortunately it is not PC for some. I could have PM him but I feel that what I said could apply to someone else. Though some judges are catching up to the times and giving men equal opportunity with the children, that was not and is currently not always the case. What happens in other countries is sad, true, but nothing to do with this. It is unfair. I am the man that will say that. I've heard of cases from both men and women regarding divorces with children involved. Though I can understand what both parties are going through - prior divorce myself - courts do tend to give women priority over the children, and it's for the best unless the mother is unfit.

Perhaps it's time to keep my opinions to myself.
