I agree!! We all are doing it now! It shows the importance of human interaction!

Make face-time a priority. Phone calls, social media, and texting are great ways to stay in touch, but they don’t replace good old-fashioned in-person quality time. The simple act of talking to someone face to face about how you feel can play a big role in relieving depression and keeping it away.

I think society has become too reliant on txts. social media, etc. I was thinking about this earlier today. Since Thursday the only people I have talked to face to face are servers and cashiers. I have rec'd and sent txts to people I know but not even a phone conversation. I know this negatively impacts how I feel. It actually makes me feel worse, so then I tend to reach out even less. A double edged sword..?

How about we all revert back to tying two cans to a string?

Yes... I so remember those days. When the days were long in the spring and summer, after dinner the kids on the block played hide and go seek. Or we played ball, rode our Schwinn bikes and roller skated. The pre-zone-out-to-electronic toys days make for good memories.

I am so glad you posted this!

Though with my Social Anxiety challenges, I make it an effort to have in-person human contact... remember that pre-Internet phenomenon from the 20th century? I find it nourishing and a lift to my esteem.

Months ago (with exception of this site) I completely deleted all of my Social Media accounts: Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, etc. Why? Several reasons. First and foremost I found them too addictive; or too many negative posts; a lack of privacy; plus I’ve lost count of looking at a gadzillion posted cat pictures. And I’ve actually felt better for doing this. Even studies have been proven that Social Media addiction can contribute to depression.

I get a kick out of still being asked, “Mind if I add you as a friend on my Facebook?” Or “What’s your Twitter @Account#?” I feel so empowered saying, “I don’t do Social Media. I do human contact.” If they ask, “Why not?”, I say, “Why should I?”

As for texting, though it’s quite convenient, I try to limit that too.

Of course there is this site which is technically Social Media. But this is a site where we help and nourish each other.... thus being the only Social Media site I do.

So yes, I agree with you 100%... in-person contact is important.

Hugs to all,

MZ ❤️

That’s awesome MrZee!!!! Me too, I don’t have Facebook any longer. It’s been about 4 years now. I don’t have any other social media accounts, just HealthUnlocked which by the way used to call it HealthyOnLocked smh lol I tried

Yep, I’m right there with you.

Still when I’m asked or told, “Hey did you see on Twitter....?”, I feel so empowered when I respond, “I don’t Tweet, nor Twaat, nor Twoot. And I don’t do @#hashtag.”

😂😂😂 a good laugh for me this morning!

We have a mobile phone however it is only used for say workmen or if the car breaks down etc. It must be getting really old now so we just use it for phone calls not internet or camera.

We have telephone at home and we are selective who phones us, we can intercept calls that are not important. If I need to interact fair enough, if not I prefer to keep my own council
