True or False??

UnderstandingMyPain profile image

When you’re happy you enjoy the beat to the music, and when you’re sad you listen to the lyrics.

I am useless too lol I’m not good with lyrics however if the song is slow enough which are usually break up songs lol I can get the lyrics but if I wasn’t in a “down mood” and I heard the same song more than likely I’ll say to my self I like the melody

Same here. How many times have you sung along with a song on the radio but didn't know the words so substituted what you thought they said? I used to do that but with the rise of Skynet...the internet...I can now look up the lyrics. Personally I do not agree with your statement though it is valid. I like the beat and the lyrics so I can sing along, in time, properly. Or as well as I can at home alone.

So true! It happened today, a lot of songs came on that I know the tune and it’s catchy but I don’t know the exact words

I'll get all OCD if I hear a song I haven't heard in a while or one I really like then I have to find out all about it. Phone app can identify a song and artist which is great. There are numerous lyrics site to choose from to find the words of the song. My current favs are The Stranglers "Walk On By" and "Golden Brown." Found out everything about the music and the band online. Now I'm content.

If you have a smartphone you can download free apps that will identify songs and artists for you. I use Soundhound and so far it's done me well. There are many sites on the web to find lyrics. Have fun!

I think there could be something in that.

My memory can be rubbish sometimes but I am really good with song lyrics, even songs I have only heard a few times, so I do a lot of singing along - sometimes i’m not consciously doing it! 🙈 I often joke I wish someone could have turned my revision notes at school into a song - I’d have got higher exam results 😂

For me, I think I always listen to the words but I absorb the meaning more when I am sad. When I’m happy, I’m less fussed about what I listen to, when I’m sad I want something that speaks to how I am feeling.

I agree! When someone is feeling down it’s almost unconsciously our minds want to find a “meaning” therefore we spend time trying to listen and understand. Just like being on here. When people are dealing with their lives in a challenging way we come on here and share our thoughts/emotions and if we get replies which is usually good advice or encouragement we spend our time reading them and taking them in!

At 63 I'm going back to the music of my high school years. My junior and senior years were the best times of my life. Listening to the music takes me back to those great memories the music triggers. To keep busy I'm downloading every song I find that I like. Even purchased an external hard drive to keep them all on. Might take a while I figure. After I'm gone whoever gets the hard drive will have a classic sound library.

That’s awesome!! Today at work, I was listening to music from “back in the day” on YouTube. I can’t remember the name of the app but there is an app where you can download any video from YouTube. I used to do that in college many years ago and save it to my PC
