Does anyone identify with the following. You sit in your easy chair for hours because you honestly can’t think of one thing that interests you enough to get up. What’s the use?

I know it would help me to move but I cannot make myself do it. I am getting help but it’s a very slow process.

Many times - then I feel guilty for not being more productive. You (and I) need to give ourselves a break!

I know my therapist says I beat myself over the head way too much but change is not easy is it?

No it's certainly not but replacing negative thoughts with positive thoughts can be successful and the more you do it your brain will change!

Yes! I have been doing nothing for over a week now. I am not even interested in the basics. It is a good idea not to be hard on yourself. I know people are trying to be helpful when they say stuff like, You should go out for a walk . But I am so far from walking right now. I guess if it was easy, I’d do it. I really hate all these cliche things like, Exercise helps. Sure it does help and I usually do that but I haven’t even taken a shower in a very many days. I know, that shower will help too ! It is not where I am. It’s too hard to move . Sharing where I am helps. So thanks.

I understand. I’ve been there too. Unless you’ve experienced it you really don’t understand. I just smile and say something like “sounds like a good idea” and let it drop. They just don’t know what else to say

All the time. I have just spent the entire day in bed because that's the only place I can clear my head and think of nothing. But then I feel bad for wasting so much time. But I know this one day of doing nothing helps me decompress and I will be ready to face the day tomorrow!
