Hi...I am currently taking Prozac for anxiety and depression (I also have ocd). Lack of sleep due to my anxiety was a big factor in starting this medication. Though my sleep and my anxiety have definitely improved, I lack motivation to do anything. I have no interest in doing the things I used to love to do: shopping, cooking, etc. Dr has considered adding a mood stabilizer or anti psychotic. In anyone’s opinion, would that help me to get some interest in life back?

I hear that a lot about adding a mood stabiliser to your antidepressant I have taken many antidepressants but they always poop out after a while... I recently read that taking an antidepressant without a mood stabiliser will cause you to be manic and now that I look back it makes sense... the doc put me on Lithium I’m on my 3rd day pretty scary especially since I need to try to function at work too.. but these suicide thoughts and dark places with anxiety has got to stop.
What is your diagnosis...
I know you just started taking the lithium, but how are you feeling? I am very scared but need to do something as this anti depressant just isn’t cutting it. I also have had some mighty dark thoughts and it frightens me big time.
I have never been diagnosed with one thing. One doc says I have major depression the other day I am bipolar none of them have the same answer. I’m scared tooo. What antidepressant are u taking? I used to be on one but it pooped out! I feel speedy, stupid and brainless with lots of anxiety on lithium. I hate taking more than one drug at a time but I might ask for an antidepressant to go with my lithium. I DONT KNOW........ I’m not sure about anything but I know I’m depressed and I need help. The medical in this town is the worst across the United States it’s TERRIBLE!!!
When I got the lithium I asked for it because I never get to see the doctor it’s always just the PA and she just gets out her phone and looks up meds and says oh how bout this one🤔 so I tell her what I want because she has no clue. I’m tired of it
Oh boy...that’s bad when an pa or doctor does that! They really have no clue. I am currently on 30 mg of Prozac. It’s not doing much. I suffered a trauma 2 years ago and became very anxious and depressed. I have ocd and supposedly manic depression. Before the trauma I was completely normal.
If lithium causes anxiety, forget it...I am anxious enough.
It’s not really causing it I guess... it just didn’t help it... I’ve never been normal... lol maybe I need to add an antidepressant to it
My psychiatrist tried a number of ADs when the Paxil I was taking stopped working. Finally Prozac seemed to somewhat alleviate my depression and anxiety. It brought me down from a 10 to an 8. So he added Gabapentin, which lowered my symptoms a point or two. But the side effects were not worth the result. Instead, he added Abilify and I’m at a 2! Hallelujah.
It’s funny, however, that you’re mentioning this today because I can’t stay awake. Very tired and slept a lot. I was operating with so much energy that maybe I just collapsed from all my over exertion. We’ll see what tomorrow brings.
i take prozac too for depression. my psychiatrist added lamictal to it. i feel much better, less moody and irritable.
I am not moody or irritable but very depressed. I have been diagnosed with manic depression due to trauma and from what I understand I should also have a mood stabilizer or anti psychotic to avoid further mania.
Are antidepressants a crutch?
Issues with focusing, concentrating, Indecisiveness, procrastination, lack of motivation, weight loss, insomnia, etc. PLS HELP...Need a Job
