Is it normal to cry every day?

VictoriasRaisinBran profile image

I've always cried. Like, all the time. In public I'm usually pretty happy, but at the end of the day, if anything goes wrong, I lose control of my tear ducts. As a kid, I cried every day till i was like 15. And even then, I still cried very often. And not just a couple tears, Like full on sob-fests. If I'm fighting with someone, or I'm angry or panicking, I can't calm down without crying... Is that healthy? It feels like I'm letting my emotions out in a healthy way, but my fiance says crying that much isn't healthy.

Hi dear,

I can relate to you. You cry because you have a lot of emotions inside you and you are trying to get them out through tears. If you can, try to find a counselor or someone with whom you can talk your heart out. Hope this helps.

I cried for years straight, uncontrollably. This was at the height of my illness.

Therapy and meds are what helped me pull myself together.

Crying does have a purpose. It's very difficult to go about your life when it's happening so often. I would just excuse myself from the room and say I was going to start crying. The tears had to come.

I hope you find some help for yourself and feel better.

I could see this both ways , it’s better then someone that is suppressing their emotions. But you say you can’t calm down without crying. It seems to have become a coping method for you. In that sense at some level it’s no different then many other coping methods that people use to deal with difficult feelings and emotions. If you said I can’t calm don’t without drinking for example , would that be viewed as healthy.

Victorias, Crying is not harmful. As a matter of fact it lets out cortisol when we are so stressed and find the need to cry.

So let the tears flow when you need to but also as other's suggested, finding

a good therapist and getting down to the cause of your tears will be helpful. xx

I’ve been crying every day on the way home from work for the past two months. I finally found a counselor. My crying is from pushing away my feelings for too long and I can’t push them away anymore.

Hello,

I cry whenever I am angry, sad or stressed and I feel better after shedding tears. According to research, crying has soothing effect and helps to get rid of stress hormones. Crying is healthy but a help of counselor can also be useful to know if your crying is too much or just right.

I hope you will get the help you need and stay better.

Keep us posted. Praying for you. God bless.
