Has anyone reconnected with family and friends

I am trying to reconnect with my family and some old friends that I have not been in touch with for some time. Have you had success? How were you able to reconnect?

Members of my family cut themselves off from last December, for no good reason that I could see. They couldn’t come up with a reason either. I have given up on them and have been deeply depressed ever since.

On a positive note my cousin in Australia contacted me through Ancestry to tell me the family had been searching for me because my Uncle in England had been asking for me when he was dying and they wanted me to go to his funeral.

I did so and as a result have been in touch with my Australian cousin and her sister who lives not far from me, their mother, my Mum’s sister has advanced dementia and I was asked to visit, to their joy she remembered me and smiled. Even said a few words. She goes days refusing to eat or drink and is completely bed ridden. I was so happy to see her.

I have a disabled son in a wheelchair, so I have him. He is ignored by my daughter and granddaughter too. He has a nice daughter who I am in touch with.

My mother used to say you never know what is round the corner.

It is very nice that your family in Australia reached out to you and you were able to reconnect with them. I have used social media to try to connect with my family and have had some success but not a lot. I so understand the depression you had after being cut off. It hurts.
