I was thinking of swapping from sertraline to fluoxetine or Prozac whatever it’s known as. I’ve been on sertraline for a few weeks and the initial side effects are bad(we’ll have been for me) so I was thinking of transitioning to something else

What’s your experience of paroxetine been like?

I would not recommend paroxetine very hard to come off. I swapped to sertraline 8 weeks ago been very hard with horrendous anxiety but I am not giving up and swapping again starting to get there so hang in there

Hi there jwell, I was on Sertraline for about for about 8 months,it was good at first but noticed my anxiety was at an all time high and for a lot of the day ,thought it might be the Sertraline and after weening off it for a month I felt much better, anxiety lifted. But it's very important to know different meds work differently for different people, depending on were you're at too. So it's good to monitor your self . The doctor tried me on avit and took it for 2 days and it was awful , anxiety , night mares ..... I'm now on escitalopram and am finding it great !! Depression and anxiety soooo much better, enjoying my life much more. Missed a few days and basically didn't put getting my meds first and noticed I felt pretty crappy. Finally found what works for me , didn't think it was ever going to happen as the doctor said they all have side effect s but definitely the best so far. See how you go though , Sertraline could be great for you. Just something to keep in mind x

How long have you been on escitalopram and what side effects did you get

I've been on it for about 6 months, and no side effects so far ,none that I've noticed or could put exclusively down to the tablets . Sometimes it's hard for me to tell what's what as I get emotional easily from outside influences; family stress , pressures...... ( Is it the meds? Is it lack of sleep? Is it money stresses? Or is it the meds ?) If that makes sense . But so far for me I'm finding escitalopram really good. Generally I do feel much happier and when I start to feel down again I am more able to change my mood by doing something I enjoy ( I like gardening) which is something I found hard to do before,I wasn't enjoying anything.

Looking back on some previous comments on Sertraline some people find it very good,so it's very much trial and error and monitoring yourself,to see what works for you
