Introducing Keta, my precious short-haired cat who was rescued from a shelter. She brings so much light to my day (as does my other rescued fur baby, Simone who is another short-haired black female). As many stated in my prior post about pets, they often provide comfort in ways we can not find in such a harsh world. Affectionately called my little spoon, Keta sleeps with me every night and has a tendency to linger in every room I am in.
She used to be a very timid, frightened kitty who would often hide or hiss if I was around. It took months to coax her out, but she eventually trusted me. Then, she did the unthinkable and became a lap cat. Now she is two years old and I'm so happy to have such a loving kitty who showers me with affection every day.
It goes to show that with a little love and a lot of patience, we too can come out of our shells and be our best versions. Hope this post brightens your day!
I got her when she was 6 months, but she is two years old in this photograph. She hasn't grown much since I purchased her. I think Keta will always be very tiny and she still peeps like a chick!
She does! I blame the dilated pupils (hers do retract, so it's not a health concern just so you know). She looks like a cartoon character half the time. Aww...I would love to see a picture sometime! She sounds so precious!
You are most welcome. Thank you! Yes, she had so many issues when I first got her (was sick, had runny eyes and super red gums) but she just needed time to heal. And yes, much like all of us here, we too need love and kindness to heal as the world may not offer that to us. What a lovely analogy, thank you for your comment!
Sheโs beautiful โค๏ธโค๏ธโค๏ธโค๏ธโค๏ธ... yes I absolutely agree with you... animals can be the best therapy at times, I truly believe that they can sense your feelings... sheโs very precious
Thank you Yes! They really read your feelings and know when to comfort you. It's honestly the best gift; I'm so thankful to have two kitties that actually enjoy being around me.
Lovely! There is something special about black cats. Thank you for your kindness!

I agree! It breaks my heart knowing they are the least adoptable due to superstition and are often euthanized. I've always wanted black cats, so I am glad that became a reality!
Keta is absolutely adorable! My cat was also a shelter kitty. Your bond with Keta really resonates with me. You are truly blessed...doubly so! When do we get to meet Simone? Another one of our dear HealthUnlocked members has a cute cat named Simon!
Thank you, John! Oh really? What was their name? That makes me so happy to hear, I know quite a number of people who have deep connections with their pets and it's quite beautiful. Hopefully soon! They both look very similar, so it's hard to tell the difference with them. Oh yeah? How uncanny!
Such a beautiful little puffball ! Cats soothe my soul ๐ป๐ป๐ป

Thank you so much! I love that phrase 'puffball' she really looks like one! Do you own any cats yourself?

How sweet! I would love to see a photo of them sometime!

I will post a pic of her some day !! Sheโs our little sweetie . We rescued her from a place that was treating animals badly . So sheโs come along with health baggage but sheโs worth it ๐

Wow, it warms my heart knowing you were able to help your kitty that way. So many animals are euthanized due to behavior issues, but it's just merely a lack of patience for most. I'm so glad you have a furry friend to love!
I have a cat too
โข in reply to
Yeah? Tell me a bit about them!

Well she has green eyes, she's about 1 year old and her names Kit Kat.

Aww....she sounds beautiful! Green eyes...very lovely! What a cute name too!! Kit Kat I like that!
Pfft, well if I didn't have self-control, I think I would have ten if I could Are they all siblings or just random kitties you got at different times? I have two black kitties, so Keta and Simone!
Lol they in the past would drive me nuts. Yes two i started with then the one had a litter of 5 kittens, 2 passed away and the others i got too attached to. I yried to give 2 of them away but that day I cried. They are my support system, my family. Really they provide me comfort
Oh my, that is a shame that some died. But equally nice to have a bunch of new friends! Aww...I know how you feel. I really do. They are our family as they give us unconditional love in a different sort of way. I am so glad you have such a warm, fuzzy support group!
I love when my girls curl up with me, especially if I am having a bad day. They tend to purr heavily, wrap their bodies around my face or lick me. What's really sweet is they both do it at the same time despite not really liking each other. It's the best therapy I can ask for.
We have our little rescue we found in the bushes at the playschool one day, someone just threw her away....well....she is the love of our life and is such a great little pal when I'm just sitting and painting....she's always with me snoring away...yes ...my cat snores.
Good point as she was despirate to stick her tail in the paint yesterday....geeezzzzz. It's always a challenge when she want's a pet and I'm working, but eventually she lays down and takes a nap....
I havenโt had a cat in years (although I loved every one I had). My husband and I became more dog people.
Iโve often looked at my โstudio (dining room table)โ and thought, โThereโs no way I could leave my mess there if I had a cat - especially a kitten! I then start to laugh, envisioning the carnage. You made me smile with the tail visual. โค๏ธ
