Body shakes is a normal side effect. The severe anxiety means you should talk to your psychiatrist about it and they'll probably switch you to a different medication.
I'm afraid of the horrible side effects of prozac and was hoping I would be further along in benefits. I read benefits 4 to 6 weeks and longer. Its been a hard 3months. Thank you for your advice
Prozac is different for everyone. I'm on the same dosage and my anxiety is virtually nonexistant although I do have insomnia. If you need to, switch the medication. I'm sure it'll help
I have an appointment with my dr. In another week. I just have had a bad experience with side effects that Im afraid to increase or switch meds its been a very traumatic experience. Did you adjust well to your meds right away?
I was on celexia before Prozac and let's just say it wasn't good. I adjusted really well to Prozac, as within an hour, I felt no nervousness at all while talking to a group of people
Im glad prozac seems to be working for you hope it continues. Hopefully I'll get to my normal once again.
Sounds like you should go see your doctor and maybe changing your medication?
Body shakes is a symptom of serotonin syndrome
Bobbiec,
Why not call and report the shakes & anxiety to your doc and see what he/she says? Don't risk further complications if it is a negative side effect, please. Maybe these shakes/anxiety are telling you that you need an additional med added on for them without changing the Prozac. Let your doc decide. Many years ago, I was on Prozac and a benzo which worked out great. Possibly you might be put on some other combo (maybe not a benzo) that will be your answer...again, let the doc decide. Often you won't lose the weeks you've built up on the Prozac...you transfer over to something else but titrate up more quickly due to your weeks on Prozac because Prozac has a very long half-life and stays in your system a long time. But severe anxiety and shakes at 28 days is time to let your doctor know what's happening...please call him or her Monday morning and please get back to me and let me know how you're doing as soon as you can. I am concerned about you. I've been on Prozac a total of about 19 years without any of the misery you're reporting. Hugs, Love, and Blessings...☺️
Have you had genetic testing done to see what medicine works the best with your genes? It has helped a lot with determining what meds work best for my genetic makeup. Its not foolproof but it definitely helps my doctor to know what medications to stay away from. I was on prozac to help bridge off of effexor and it helped but once I was off the effexor, prozac made me feel wonky by itself. Good luck.
My doctor is out for another week. I talked to her nurse. A prescription for 50mg of hydroxyzine was given to me. I started taking them 4 days ago. I don't think its doing much for me. Im trying to help myself with calming videos and mindfulness training. I'm still hoping I will feel better soon. I figure by the time I see my Doctor next week if these symptoms still persist she will have an idea of what to do. I was having major panic attacks when I started the prozac at least now that seems to be slightly better. The anxiety really sucks as does the shaking. Im just trying to be optimistic about the prozac and what improvements I've felt. I know I just can't depend on the meds alone. I hope all the techniques I've been using will have an impact to help me. I've never had panic attacks at the magnitude that they were. I was really frightened until I started researching. Hopefully now that I know what to expect I can manage them. Thank you for your advice. I hope I'll get there (my normal) soon.
