What are my options

Being put back on meds or having to go to the ward scared me more than anything. But my episodes have been lasting longer and feel worse as I get older. I've been drinking a lot more and I only leave my apartment to go to work. I need alternatives.

My first 2 posts were done while settling from a panic attack, I've noticed a lot of words that were auto corrected wrong. My apologies,id really like to hear from people

Missinglobe, do not worry about misspelled words. When under stress we

all do that. There comes a time that we may not like what our choices may

be but have to follow through for our own sanity. Turning to drink is only

complicating the matter. There was a time that I decided I needed to be

admitted to the hospital where I could get accessed as well as have my

medication worked on in a safe professional atmosphere. What ever is going

on in your life right now, whether it be chemical or situational, it needs to be

professionally addressed. We are here to support your decision. I

welcome you to this caring group of people. xx

Thank you. Your words mean a lot. Even thou it scares me, I sometime wish I could go back to the hospital. They only let me stay a day, I don't have insurance. When I was on meds, it messed with my job and caused problems while I got used to them. But the symptoms need up being worse than the judgement.

I understand that one day is not enough. Actually I didn't want to go home

I stayed 6 weeks. I needed the structure that only an in patient ward could

afford. During that time they accessed my meds and played around with the

dosages which felt more comfortable under a 24 hr care facility.

It's very difficult in the beginning in adjusting to medication and holding down a

job. I totally understand. I'm glad you reached out to us and hope that we can

support you in some small way. :) xx

Smiles, my psychiatrist was on staff at a large teaching hospital in Chicago

where they have both a Pediatric/Adult in-patient psych unit as well as

out patient therapy. That was quite a while ago. During that 6 weeks I was

able to have health issues addressed as well as structured therapy and

medication assessment. xx

Had my first appointment with a new therapist today and she was terrible. Now have to look for another therapist :-(

Hi SmilesLots, I'm sorry you had a disappointing experience. The right therapist

is what makes therapy work. Unfortunately, it's not always easy to find a right fit.

I hope you are able to find someone else and hope the waiting time isn't too long. xx

Thanks for your reply. I left msg for a new therapist that specializes in chronic illness. I'm hoping she'll be a good fit for me. Fingers crossed.

I hope you find someone who works for you. Finding the right therapist is as important as finding anyother Dr. I wouldn't settle for anyone you don't mesh well

Not drinking is the main One sounds like? That can make things WORSE. You can't medicate you're problems away. Look into counciling before your drinking becomes a HABIT?

Counciling worked when I was younger and on some kind of insurance. The places I have available to me now, I think is what caused some more problems. They wanted me to tell them what's wrong and I don't know that's why I got help. It was a frustrating experience

Agree the drinking will only complicate things. Avoid it if you can. Counseling with the well-matched person for you will always be helpful to you as long as you can afford it. Check out online at Psychology Today for info on people who counsel and some indicate if they charge on a sliding scale. Others work out of church offices (low or no rent) and reduce their fees. Ask around for them. I'm on my 20th year with my counselor who works out of a modest church office and she's priceless to me. A friend indeed and an avid supporter all this time. Wouldn't you like that? Need that?

Since we know each other so well and to save money, I only go once a month these days. I could step it up if I really had to. Please take good care of you, ok? I'm here if you need something from me also. I'll get the message. 💜👍😋🌿🌷🌞
