Need to take 0.25 Xanax for anxiety

Today I went to a psychologist and told him about my social anxiety case and how it is affecting my work.

He told me that i have mild anxiety.

He suggested 4 options: anti depressant, xanax low dose, beta blocker, and CBT.

He mentioned that cbt is for the long run and takes time. He added that with anti depressant i cannot withdraw. He suggested xanax 0.25 since it works in the brain and told me to take it only in case of certain events (speech, meetings).

He suggested that i try it in a day i do not work in order to see how would i feel.

Has anyone gone through the same experience?

What is the side effect of it?

Thank you.

Yes very. Look up Dr Ashton. Benzo withdrawal is the worse thing I have ever experience. I will never go to my doctor ever again. Left with brain damage

Please stay away from. Benzos.

If it wasn't for daughter I would not be here now

Im Hanging in for my little girl.

Its 24/7 symptoms no relief, no sleep, no memory, heart rate 130 as my body can not produce gabba to slow my body down. Its a long slow painful process withdrawing

Hi Santos82, 0.25 mg of Xanax is a very low dose meant to just take the

edge of your fear. At the beginning, even that low dose made me feel a little

sleepy.. After a while my body adjusted to it. It's a good idea to test it out

since we all react differently to medications. Write down the time you take it,

how long it took to work and how long it lasts. Then you will know how to

adjust it to your meetings or giving a speech. Make sure you hydrate, it can

make your mouth a little dry. :) xx

P.S. Antidepressants may take weeks to reach full efficacy but in the long run

they should not give you a tired feeling but rather more alert and focused.

I am no longer on any benzos but am on Lexapro an SSRI. Works great in

keeping anxiety in check along with my meditation and deep breathing :) xx

Nice, so it would have been better if i start with anti depressant, like u? Did u have mild or severe anxiety? Are u now able to cope well? Thanks for ur valuable reply :)

Santos I had severe anxiety which made the decision of medication being necessary.

The decision as to what you should be on must come from your doctor who knows

your health history. Working closely with your doctor will enable him to find the best

medication and dosage for you alone.

I do very well now because I incorporated other tools that I use to keep me in a calmer

state. I no longer fear anxiety, I accepted it which made a big difference in my total

mental health. I am back in control of my life. Anxiety will no longer control me. :) xx

Opaaaa amazing news. I am very glad you have passed over it. 😊

I have mild anxiety and i should also do fine... but my doctor said i also need to do some cbt reading myself (i do not need him) and he said he will send some materials for me to read. In parallel i can take xanax only when i need.

It sounds like a plan Santos :)

CBT is not easy, there's work involved in more than reading. If it becomes too

involved you may need to see a therapist in helping you through. More power to

you in finding what works for you. Taking the Xanax only when needed sounds good.

Seriously stay away. What ever u suffer now will Come back 1000 worse. Please stay away. If you do take it do. Not take longer than 4 weeks.

I'd take Mild anxiety any day over this torture. Take benzos that. Ild will become very severe
