Same-e?

Does anyone have any experience taking this? I currently take 5-HTP but I’m not seeing a difference. I don’t know how much longer I can deal with the depression and anxiety that I’m dealing with. It’s been since May when it suddenly appeared, with no signs of it disappearing. It’s painful. The feeling of emptiness and loneliness are unbearable sometimes and the negative outlook on the future is discouraging.

Sorry to hear this. Maybe it's time to think about prescription meds? x

I've tried a lot of supplements & diet changes etc. & had no luck. Finally broke down at age 43 & got a prescription. I've been on zoloft for 3 months & it has definitely helped. I had tried wellbutrin for 3 months before that & it did notbing for me. Prescriptions actually work if you get the right one. I think (judging from googling dopamine vs seratonin deficiency symptoms) that I am low on seratonin & that's why the wellbutrin didn't work. Do some research & ask your doctor.

No matter what you take you should talk to your doctor. Depending on your health and metabolism and if you have situational or clinical depression it can take 6 months or more for 5 htp to help IF it’s going to. You may not need what it’s doing for you.

If you don’t want a script I’d try GABA otc on it’s own but tell your doctor. Supplements are still meds with immediate and long term repercussions (good and bad).

Best of luck to you

Yes, I've been taking SAM-e for the last three or four months and it has made big difference for me along with a b12 supplement. My anxiety has reduced considerably. It increases your methylation cycle, which initially gave me a headache and jaw tightness, but as I weened my self onto it gradually and monitored my potassium levels that went away. I would encourage you to research that if you are looking at giving it a try. 5htp still helps me somewhat but I find it less stabilising than SAM-e in general. Inositol has also been a godsend.

Dr. told me to give SAMe 6 weeks to work and to know it's working.

After one week I gave up on feeling sick. However, that's me learning how sensitive my body is to anything ingested.

If you can tolerate the changes, give it 6 weeks. If not, move on to another brand or another kind of med.

Anxiety is exhausting trying to find the right cocktail that keeps changing. I always split the pill to start with the lowest dose so I can increase it as time goes on.

Tell us your good news. We want to know how you are doing on the new program.
