On Wednesday of last week I stood on a splinter of glass on the ball of my foot (under/near my toes) I immediately washed the wound and managed to remove the glass splinter with some tweezers. After this I used antiseptic etc to clean the wound a number of times. However I am still terrified here is something imbedded in my foot. For the first 2/3 days I didn’t put my foot on the floor at all I had pointed in the air with my heel touching the floor for those 2/3 days only yesterday and today have I been walking on it. My foot feels achey and sweaty but there is no pain when I walk I also get pins and needles. The wound is completely closed and is just a dog on my foot it’s a very very small wound barley a millimetre but I’m still terrified what do I do I’m so scared I will get sepsis or the foot will be infected

It sounds like you will be fine. If glass is still there, you will know because the area around it will become very red and warm to touch. What usually happens is some pus forms around the glass and then you'd likely be able to remove it by soaking it and grabbing it. You ae very unlikely to become septic. You are young and healthy, correct? Your body is amazing and will work to keep an infection contained. You have no need to worry. Im a school nurse, btw, and have seen issues like yours. :)

Thank you for your reply it was very helpful it had gone warm/sweaty but there is no open wound at and is not warm to the touch but I’m glad I got some reassurance from someone with medical experience it was very very helpful thank you very much. I wish you good luck overcoming your challenges as well x

You are not going to get sepsis from such a small wound - why would you? If that was the case then the whole world would and they certainly don't. Our bodies are very good at healing ourselves and your immune system has taken care of it. x

Thank you you’ve calmed me down a lot I suppose it’s about educating yourself on these matters as well. Best of luck overcoming your challenges

Have a read of this. It explains what the immune system is and how it works. It might reassure you a bit. x

yeah, probably everything is going to be fine.

And even by some chance you did leave anything under skin, it will either bother you A LOT and you will definitely know, of you will not really feel it and body will remove it itself.

I think you would know if you actually had blood poisoning lol. I have stepped on sharp stuff during my childhood quite a lot. Never really cared to do anything more than wash the wounds and tie them up.
