I’ve been on venlafaxine for 7 weeks now and still feel very depressed.I was on citalopram for many years but felt they were not working . I did feel great on weeks 3 and 4 but came back to earth with a bump. I’m taking 150mg and dr has said I can up to 225mg I just don’t know what to do for the best. I’ve had 2 x 5min phone calls with dr which hasn’t been enough to go through my options. My wife is very understanding but I feel like I’m trying to work out what’s best to do on my own.
Has anyone got any advice please I’d be very grateful

I was also on Celexa and it slowly stopped working for me as well. Took about seven months to completely 'poop' out. It happens.
Any SSRI/SNRI can take weeks to begin working and months to get to a therapeutic level. That is just how they work. A benzo can bridge that gap, but benzos are addictive. If your doctor prescribes one make sure you tell him/her you want to get off the benzo sooner rather than later. Any good doc will see the wisdom in that.
Keep working with your doc. Counseling is a great adjunct to medicine. There are methods such as 'tapping', EMDR and more to help cope with anxiety/depression symptoms.
Hi I was also on citalopram and they never helped me I’ve been on 225mg of venlafaxine for about seven years and they have honestly been the best medication for my anxiety and I have been on medication for 27 years I would try going up to 225mg it might be the dose that just hits the spot for you hope you get sorted soon 😊
Hello iwontgiveup I was on 150mg venlafaxine for my depression and anxiety and they didn’t work for me when my mad doc phoned me I told him so he has put me on 225mg my depression is a bit better but my anxiety and the shakes aren’t, but I do take other tabs as well, I did tell the doc though that surely I should have some kind of counselling as well cause I don’t think one works without the other
