Anyone else do this when feeling anxious or stressed? Sometimes I don’t even know why I’m doing it, but I keep doing it compulsively.

Lip/inner mouth chewing
Yes, Ive done this as long as I can remember. In my younger years I smoked, quit that then became a nailbiter. I do it mostly when alone, driving, etc
I do this a lot, mostly if I haven't eaten properly for a few days or if i'm bored. Then when it starts hurting I bit the inside of my cheek more for a very temporary 'relief' sometimes the resultant ulcers take a couple weeks to heal and a lot of concentration to not chew on again.
Sure do
Thanks all. I’ve started chewing gum again as an alternative, but the compulsion itself is still aggravating to deal with. I also grind my teeth in my sleep.
I do, in fact I chewed a hole inside my cheek the size of a silver dollar. I don’t know why, but I just can’t stop. Hurts like heck. I have to keep my hair cut short because I will start to pull it out. So, if I’m not pulling my hair, I’m chewing away! 😆
I have been doing this for the last 30 years. Sometimes I dont realize I'm doing it. Other times when I'm aware of it it do. Because I have a counting compulsion most of the time I do it until I get to 24...then I stop and start over again. Its endless!
Sometimes I get stuck in a pattern of chewing repeatedly then chewing to “even out” the spots I’ve been chewing until it’s “just right”. It’s like a never ending cycle until I’m able to forget about it for a day or two and let it heal.
