Questions on Natural remedies for Anxiety, Depression, and Sleeplessness.

I have dealt with anxiety, depression and sleeplessness for more than 2/3s of my life. I had a life changing experience recently and want to do everything I can naturally to get better. I have dealt with cigarette, marijuana, caffeine, and sometimes alcohol addiction. I have decided that for once in my life I am going to abstain from any illicit substances and see how much it helps contribute to my mental well being. I had been going back and forth between marijuana withdrawal from not having any then having it back then back to not having any and I became suicidal for the 1st time in my life. I have made other mistakes that led me to a realization I need to do something or I will never get better. Has anyone tried the combination of Vitamin B6, 5 HTP and, Magnesium as a natural way to help with depression, anxiety and Sleeplessness. If so what have your experiences been and have you noticed any side effects. Also has anyone tried these while dealing with recovering from nicotine, marijuana, and caffeine addiction?

Honestly one of the best things I felt was trying to keep a schedule including a reasonable time to be in bed, praticing good hygiene, and working out during the day( like a ten minute jog/ walk) nothing to serious but in combination those things did help. I don’t have much experience with the things you listed but if it’s an extra long night some herbal teas are great, and if you have to something like melatonin( some herbal teas already cover the same bases as melatonin so try not to double up).. the vitamin b I would reserve for in the morning as b vitamins usually wake me up a little.. it’s cool to see you’re trying to better yourself, stay strong and try to get some rest

Thank you for your reply. In my case I can be out in the sun walking or biking while taking photos or doing something else for 10 hours in a day. I tend to be outside almost every day and even putting in a 30 mile bike ride or walk I never actually feel rested at night. When I go devoid of marijuana I can stay in bed for hours and just never fall asleep and go multiple days without sleeping at all and only eventually feel tired after a couple days no sleep and then once I crash I sleep to much and end up back where I started. I try keeping a routine time to sleep but no matter how hard I try I just lie awake. I make use of white noise from a fan and it helps but I just never actually seem to tire. I tried chamomile tea and melatonin and it never worked. I know b6 is more for energy so planned on taking it at night. I just figure as no one thing has ever seemed to work for me that maybe I need a regiment of natural remedies to regulate what appears to be a chemical imbalance. I am opposed to prescription drugs so want to try to do things as naturally as possible.

Yeah that makes sense, I just thought I should suggest those things if you haven’t already tried( looks like you definitely have lol) I know how crappy sleep can be after quitting.. just curious now, did you stop all three at the same time?.. I’ve made it to the point I have the occasional coffee ( don’t need caffeine to function anymore) and no more marijuana, but I can’t seem to kick the damn nicotine yet (cigarettes for me).. working on it but it sucks

I have quit coffee before no problem besides some headaches and when I can sleep regularly I tend to feel more active in the mornings without it. I have never quit marijuana for more than 30 days in 22 years and at that time only quit because of money. The entire month I went without smoking marijuana I stayed active every day but still found myself getting around 5 hours a sleep a night. I have never tried to quit smoking cigarettes before. I actually went from a pack a day to two packs recently dealing with stress and decided I just need to quit. I am trying to quit all 3 at the same time as I don't want to have to go through three separate bouts of withdrawal. I have already quit smoking marijuana entirely, have had the occasional coffee but have been slowly weening down and have gone about every other day without and have cut back cigarettes to under 10 a day and plan on trying to stop entirely within the next few days. I already feel myself not having the urge to smoke as often and when I do it just doesn't feel as fulfilling as it used too. I have never had much willpower when it came to giving up something I enjoy but am trying everything possible to get out of the habit including not bringing money with me when I am outside the house so that I don't have any way of even purchasing them.
