Natural remedies for anxiety and depression

Has anyone ever tried natural remedies for anxiety and depression? I have tried 4 different anti depressants and all seem to make me worse versus better. I also hate the side effects of weight gain, suicidal ideation, etc. I struggle with sleep every night also. Has anyone perhaps tried a vitamin regimine? I have read about St. John’s Wort as a treatment for depression though anxiety is more my issue.

Any thoughts or ideas are appreciated as right now I am just sick of it all and am quite frankly in a very bad state of mind from the recent anti depressant that I am currently on....mirtrazapine.

Thank you!

I take CBD gummy bears and it helps a lot with my anxiety and also helps me go to sleep.

I rarely now take my xanax to begin with I try not to have to use them since they can be habit forming but I do take them when it’s a must like when my anxiety level is really hitting the charts sky high.

Where do you get cbd gummy bears.

in reply to

I think you can get them online...

in reply to Loki1018

How long did you take the CBD before you noticed a difference? Also, do you know what dose the gummy bears are?

Valerian or Valium? The root of Valerian has been used to encourage sleep and treat mild anxiety for hundreds of years. If you search on Google you will find it available for sale in capsule and tablet form from several reputable suppliers online. Better read up on it first though and check to see if it's compatible with any medication you're taking.

Search for the 'WebMd Drug Interaction Checker' online which allows you to check pharmaceutical meds (and herbal remedies) to see if they're compatible.

Never tried Valerian it myself I have to admit.

I take CBD oil. It helps to some degree. I take the Xanax if I’m having a really horrible day.

Does xanax help with your depression or is it primarily for anxiety?

I feel ya. I have tried two antidepressants (Zoloft and Lexipro) and ended up in the ER with a bad reaction each time! My body is definitely telling me NO to these meds. It’s so disheartening, though. You have such hope that this may be the end that finally helps you feel better and... I’ve had good results with Busperone for anxiety but haven’t found something for the depression. In my case, I think it’s situational depression due to unresolved health concerns.

Thanks for your reply. I am struggling to stay alive every day...I have the best hubby and children yet I seriously want to leave this earth but I don’t...does that make sense???

in reply to

It TOTALLY makes sense. I am also living day-to-day right now (hell...sometimes minute-to-minute). I wonder if I’ll ever live a “normal” life (whatever that means). I have sometimes envied news stories about young people that “lost their brave battle with XYZ disease” because I’m so tired of working so hard to get through some days. But then...I’ll have an okay day and realize that there are still things to live for (some days, my pets are the things I live for!). My best friend told me to WRITE DOWN when I’m having a good moment so I will have concrete proof that there are good days (or hours or minutes). Anxiety and depression are so friggin evil and tell lies.

Writing down the good stuff and the good people is such a good way to prove it to yourself because when we're depressed we're so good at thinking it doesn't exist. Also this probably goes without saying but when we have those thoughts of whether we should stay here or go, we need to be with someone or talking to our therapist regularly so we don't do anything that we would regret during our better days (which logically we know that those happy days do exist).

I've also had good results w/ Busparone for anxiety... Not very expensive. My anxiety hits me in the morning and I take 5 mg and can feel it 30mins to one hour at the latest. I am male, 57, type o positive blood type if that helps.

I take 400 mg of Magnesium. It took about a week, but stopped my anxiety!

in reply to Bellabelize

Really? I will have to give that a try!

Actually I researched and researched and found the answer on my own. So glad I did!

Wow..that’s amazing! I certainly hope it works. These pharmaceuticals are killing me..I feel like they are poison.

Hi

I take Venlafaxine and Mirtazapine and STILL get ridiculously bad episodes. Definitely monitor your situation and report back to doctor / psych.

I've been diagnosed with treatment resistant depression after 15 years of no improvement.

I started using cbd oil about 3 weeks ago and that has significantly improved my anxiety to a state where I can leave the house (I had horrific agoraphobia before).

I'm also starting to experiment with essential oils since I struggle with sleeping. There have been no dramatic changes in the week I've been using them but it might take time.

Hopefully there'll be someone who can help us all out and post the non - prescription cure we've all been waiting for 😉

B

Hello, you can look into St. John's wort for depression, ashwaganda root for anxiety and depression. Cbd oil for anxiety. Supplements for overall health B-complex, c, omega 3, magnesium, pqq, co10. Changing diet to more plant base foods, less meats, sugar, salt, more exercise, meditation, tai chi and relaxing time. I would recommend finding a good ND.

Thank you!

in reply to Marc787

Do you take these vitamins for anxiety/depression???

Vitamins are for overall health for me. omega 3 for brain, magnesium, b-complex and C for stress on my body, Pqq and co10 for heart and body health. I take St Johns wort to help with my depressed moods, CDB oil helps with Anxiety. The most important thing, I try to deal with what is causing my issues too, mostly work and home. I have general anxiety (ged). I notice for me the older we get it's more. I exercise after work. Lifting weights, exercising bans, walk, a little running. I meditate and Tai chi for 30min. before I go to bed. On the weekends I'll try to find time to go to the beach or park or just go outside in nature. I try to do this consistently it helps with my anxiety and depression. If I'm not focusing on my symptoms and on something eles it doesn't exist in my head for a short time. Thats a great thing. I hope this helps. God bless.
