Hi guys just to start off I suffer with anxiety and health anxiety specifically I’ve had this issue seen to by multiple doctors who have said there is no problem. But Can anyone help me I’ve had a swallowing issue since around January since I choked on some meat and in doing so I shoved my fingers down my throat to dislodge the meat and I injured my throat in the process but ever since I’ve had an issue swallowing it’s gotten better as when it first happened it felt like I couldn’t even swallow the spit in my mouth so I was constantly spitting now I just feel like my throat is extensively damaged as I feel like I just can’t swallow so a lot of the time I spit food out as I’m convinced I’m gonna choke. I also feel like there’s something in the top of my throat all the time it never feels clear sometimes it’s fine but not great like I don’t get the same feeling from eating as I did. Any advice?

Swallowing issue
I have anxiety and there are times I can’t swallow my own spit, if it’s something that’s an every day thing I would check with other doctors. For me it only happens randomly like a panic attack and I avoid eating or drinking until I’m calm. Idk if it’s the same feeling but it feels like my throat is closing.
Thank you for your reply it was helpful I’ve already seen 5 doctors since the incident it is more the feeling of something being stuck like my throat isn’t clear
My anxiety gets that bad too where I can’t swallow so I don’t eat, I thought I was the only person that going through that.
I would go to another doctor and if they don’t believe try another until someone believes your problem is real.
Go to see a Dr. Having anxiety is not an excuse for not taking care of yourself.
I just learned that my blood pressure medication is causing dry mouth when I sleep. I wake up sick and scared that I can't breathe.
Maybe your problem is physical. The mental part feeds on sending in the big monster of anxiety. Now I spray OTC Biotene when a dry mouth attack startles me.
Dr. isn't supposed to recommend OTC meds. Big Pharma wants our business. In my case the Dr. stepped out of the box to help me.
We all search the hapiness in this life, but hapiness in this world is not possible. We learn, our soul learn only suffering. Living with material body on earth is a school, a stage of our imortal soul. When we dye we return in fact to our real home.
Hi
I had a swallowing problem that turned out to be anxiety. Like you I had choked on something that I then thought may have scraped my throat and I think that made me focus too much on my throat and feel as if something was there all the time making swallowing difficult. Once I was really sure it was anxiety it disappeared on its own. Like you, I could sometimes eat without feeling it at all. This would be when really distracted from thinking about it when I had friends over for a meal.
This in itself told me it was anxiety and not anything physical. If you have seen 5 doctors it sounds to me as if you should listen to them if they are saying it is nothing physical and you have not damaged your throat and it is instead anxiety. Easier said than done however.
The way I got rid of my problem, once I had it confirmed by the doctor that it was not physical was to tell myself firmly to stop worrying about it. This took a while and did not happen overnight. What seemed to work for me was to say "so what if I have a problem swallowing and it stays for life. There are worse things other people have to live with. I can live with it for as long as it lasts and not see it as a problem." That seemed to work really quickly for me and it went in quite a short time after that.
This worked because in thinking this I was able to stop being afraid of the symptom and it no longer had any power over me.
I am sure it will work for you too but if it does not try going back to your doctor to see what help you need to address your anxiety.
My very best wishes.
Kim
