Medications for anxiety and depression

Currently I am prescribed buspirone 10mg 3 times daily (for generalized and social anxiety), and lexapro 30 mg once daily for anxiety/depression. The main side effect from buspirone that I get is dizziness , and lexapro is the lowest sex drive EVER. Which for me was already low so now it’s like non-existent. Sorry if that’s TMI.

Just curious to hear from others, what medications have y’all been prescribed that have/haven’t worked, pros, cons to these meds, etc. also any natural supplements or the like that anyone has tried and found helpful?

Also questions for the females who are on meds that cause low sex drive, any kind of natural supplement or anything that y’all have found helpful to raise sex drive?

My GYN tried to put me on testosterone but it did literally nothing so we stopped.

Buspirone made me dizzy as well. They switched me to Zoloft and that was not for me and killed my libido.

I’m off both of those and on cymbalta. Been a little over 2 weeks- no side affects at all but not entirely sure if it’s working.

Propanol was also prescribed to me and it helps out a lot with performance anxiety.

For rough situations, nothing beat Xanax for me, but new doctor won’t prescribe it to me

Hi - at one point I was taking lexapro for anxiety/depression but stopped because of how it made me feel. I noticed it killed my already low drive as well as it did for you. I can’t attest to any supplements for helping with intimacy, but having an understanding partner helps a lot. 😉 I was on Zoloft for many years but stopped that for similar reasons. I took propanolol for anxiety but hated it because it dropped my heart rate and that freaked me out. I’ll take hydroxyzine for anxiety but I have to be careful because it’ll make me feel like my heart is racing. Hope you find the right combination of meds that work for you!
