Stayed in bed

This morning I was supposed to go to a group therapy class but I canceled and went back to bed to lie down, not sleep because I couldn’t fall back asleep. Now I feel guilty and foolish.

I sent a message to my therapist to reschedule me in for next week.

Hi CoralRose, I know just what that is like. Don't be too hard on yourself about it, just try to get going again. Good move rescheduling your appointment.

I really try to give myself a break when I don't live up to my expectations right now. I do A LOT toward my healing, and from what I know about you, so do you.

It's hard to understand. We know that fresh air invigorates us. We know we feel better when we are out among people we know and trust. We know the bed robs our strength and sense of purpose. We know we feel great when we finish a project that interests us.

So why does every cell in our bodies protest and fight to keep us chained to the bed?

I saw a movie a couple of years ago, about the Holocaust. A band of escapees banded together to fight off the Nazis. One part showed how the Nazis were marching to the hiding place. The band ran, but there was a nasty body of water to cross. Some wanted to give up....But one old man had an idea. He told everyone to hold hands. The strong held onto the weak. The very old pulled the very young across the water.

Maybe that's what is happening here. Maybe those who have walked through the worst are helping the rest of us to get started.
