Weighted blanket

Seems the return reports are "iffy". Blankets are too short and too hot and too expensive. They do seem to help some people a little bit.

Hopefully the new people who joined the past few weeks will give more insight on weighted blankets that advertise they provide relaxation and comfort for people who suffer from anxiety/panic disorder.

A friend sent me one and I don't love it. I've only used it a couple of times. Didn't do much for me.

Thanks for your honesty. Most of the negative comments are due to the blanket being too short and too hot. Plus it's an expensive gamble without good reports.

I use spray Rescue Remedy on top and bottom of tongue. Takes the usual 15-20 minutes and does help to calm down the beast. Drs. have told me it's safe to use as needed.

Still looking for more help, growing symptoms. Yes, I've been thru exhausting and upsetting medical tests. They don't know what to do with an out of the box person like me.

They don't know what to do with any of us really! Get some lavender oil and sprinkle it on your pillow... I think it helps. Also, listening to the sleep stories on the Headspace app has become something I love, and I usually am asleep before it's finished.

My Wife’s is amazing! We love it!

Not all the time... only situational.

It’s been really helpful in the midst of panic.

Hi marheart, I was fortunate in that my psychiatrist tried it out on me

at one of my sessions. He had me lie on the couch as he put this weighted

blanket over me. He sat on his big comfy chair and turned on a relaxation

tape. 10 minutes later, the doctor fell asleep in his chair and I kicked off

the blanket and sat up. I felt extremely panicky with the blanket on, almost

like a trapped feeling.

However, you need to take into consideration that we don't all respond the same

plus the fact that the weight of the blanket goes by the person's weight. ( So that it's

distributed proportionately.) That blanket may have been just too heavy for my body

type. Since they are expensive, it would be nice if a store carried them so you can

try it out before buying it. Keep us updated please. xx

Try, then buy, would be wonderful.

Okay, now out of fantasy land and back to reality!

Hi Marheart. I have heard that putting a garlic head under the pillow helps you get your sleep back on track. I have done that for my daughter since she has insomnia but of course have not told her and it seems it helps. I have also gotten her the blanket and yes, it's short and a little heavy and she seems to think it might be helping her. Maybe you should try putting the garlic under your pillow for a couple of nights and see if it helps you..

Best of luck!

EMB, thanks for the tip about the garlic head under the pillow. Is that peeled or with

the skin on it? I have a daughter who never gets a good night's sleep anymore.

I'd rather she try that then sleep remedies in pill form. :) x

in reply toAgora1

Hi Agora1, It's with the peel. Hopefully it helps her. I also try to give her a cup of chamomile tea every night. :)

Thank you EMB, I appreciate your help. xx

in reply toAgora1

I sure hope it helps her. I know how devastated it is when they can't sleep and then anxiety comes along with depression. I will keep her in my prayers.

That also means tolerating the smell of garlic!

HOW?

Cut it up? Place it in a napkin? Slip it under the pillow case?

in reply tomarheart

Just leave the peel and place under the pillow.

Love my blanket. I have to keep the room cool and sleep in shorts. It’s not a cure all but definitely makes relaxing more luxurious. I bought my blanket off of Amazon. I think it was between 60-80 dollars. I’ve been able to wash it. I recommend trying them out.

I'm 5'7". Many people on this site have said the blanket is too short for them. Now what?

I’m 5’5” and use it on top of another blanket for sleeping purposes. I know there are more expensive ones that have longer lengths and heavier weights.
