I'm new to this and i'm hoping I can find some relief. I've always had some minor anxiety from time to time. However, a couple months ago my anxiety started becoming more intense. My chest felt heavy, my legs felt like jello. I was always nervous that something would happen to me at work or in public because of these feelings. I started Lexapro last week and I was hopeful. However, I've had some pretty intense tension headaches. I've also missed 3 days of work this week because I've had feelings like I will actually pass out. I get dizzy, hot, and everything grays out for a bit. After the first episode my doctor lowered my dose of Lexapro from 10mg to 5. I felt much better for a day then I had another episode of passing out. Now, my doctor wants me to stop the medication; however he thinks this could all just be anxiety and not the meds at all. Which honestly, that just gives me more anxiety than if he just would have told me to stop taking the meds. Is there any suggestions out there that can help me cope with this?

Is it Lexapro or my anxiety?
Hi Roxy welcome. I'm new here too. I'm sorry your anxiety has intensified, it's overwhelming. Have you tried to talk to your doctor about switching meds? I had problems with lexapro and switched to zoloft. When I started my meds, I also took ibuprofen at the same time bc of the headaches. It really helped.
I also had problems with Lex and now I'm on Zoloft and it's helping. I'm wondering what your breathing is doing when you feel the 'blackout' sensation? Definitely something to pay attention to.
I'd consider maybe getting a second opinion from another doctor, or possibly going in to the Emergency department the next time you faint like that...just something I would do if I were in your shoes. I also recently started taking Lexapro and haven't experienced as severe of symptoms as you're describing, but if I passed out I would definitely be heading into the ER. But again, that's just me and my anxiety over my health.
