hello everyone for years ive been worried about my heart ect..and now its my blood pressure aswell do you think if i ask my doctor they will give me a heart scan i just want my mind put at rest so bad and if they do will i have them ebery so often xx

Hey most definitely if you have any cardiac disease in the family you should get any test done. Your doctor will be pleased to hear and from what you tell him/her they will direct you to the right diagnostic tests that need to be done.

Do speak to your doctor about your heart worries even if you suspect it is all due to anxiety. Your doctor will be able to order a few simple tests like ECG/EKG and it will bring you reassurance and set your mind at rest on that score.

Anxiety can also temporarily raise blood pressure which is normal but if your bp is raised then a bp tablet prescribed by your doctor will soon bring that down. My daughter's bp is high when tested in her doctor's office or surgery but when they put a 'holter' on her for a few days, the strap on device that records your bp every half hour or so, they found her bp was normal.

Your doctor may want to check your bp periodically but that's nothing to worry about. I hope all goes well with you.

If you are having swelling, especially in the feet and legs, you should get an ultrasound of the heart. You should be having ECGs yearly if you are stable. Irregular heart beats, chest pain, cold sweats with chest discomfort, pain in the jaw, or any thing that feels wrong bears investigation.
