Sadly im in another anxiety and depressive episode, 3rd one in 20 years, 2 months in just about to start Duloxetine maybe
first I surived medication free had mild anxiety compared to these days
the last two have followed the same path, stars mild, time of work with burnout , aborted medication trial, a wait to get next meds and then a second go on medicaion
2nd time amitriptyline saved me but I cant take it now
Does medication somehow sensitise you to anxiety especially if you come off early in the treatment? (I have done that wth citalopram, sertraline and gabapentin due to side effects)
I took smal dose gabapentin only 200mg for a few weeks- it increased my depression and anxiety and it seems coming off it my neurotransmitters are fried
Who knows what damage this all does to the brain and body
Just looking to share experience I guess and hopefully Im not alone in this

Hi Andy. I was on citalapran on and off for 20 years with no probs. I then had heart attack and had stent inserted. At the same time tests showed long QT. I was taken off the citalapran and put on lots of medication for heart, bisoprolol, Asprin, lisinopril, statin, lansaprazol, and tyroxine which I have taken for years. I was left for a year suffering terrible depression and like you not many drugs I could have because of the qt. Finally I was referred to the psychiatrist who prescribed paroxetine and I have been on this for two years and it works for me. At the moment I have a loop device for the long QT but have not used it often to send recordings as I do not know I have had a trance expression although people often ask if I am ok because they see me staring. I would be interested to know your experience with the long QT as to be honest I do not fully understand, or maybe I contestant to!
Another thing when I had my heart attack I was suffering with sciatica and was weaned on to Gabapantin which did the trick and was able to wean off that after three months.
Thanks. My qt is hereditary. The QTC is 513 did try nadalol 40mg but it floored me. Only diagnosed in Jan but was advised to come off amitriptyline 12 m ago to see if it was contributing to the QT to be honest I'm not sure if it was or wasn't but I'm not allowed to use it now.
I'm in a bind at the moment as having a terrible time with mental issues insomnia and anxiety. The amitriptyline protected me and off it I have suffered
Can't figure out what to do for the best - take the Duloxotene SNRI and suffer more stress and sletp issues with the side effects of getting on it which in turn affects the heart or get on a beta blocker or both or use natural treatments in the short term to manage the stress anxiety and sleep issues
I know with the stress I have been under lately my heart rate has climbed.
