I am new here and have been suffering from anxiety for quite some time. I’ve been going to therapy for about 5 years and to a psych for about a year. Every medicine I’ve tried has made me feel horrible. The only thing that’s made me feel better has been klonopin, but thats obviously not a long term solution. I’ve also battled addiction in the past and lately every time I drink in social settings, I get a little carried away.. not purely because of how much I drink, but also with the way it interacts with the medicine I’m taking. My anxiety and irritability lead to bouts of anger and punching things around my house to where I’ve broken my hand multiple times. I honestly feel helpless and while I do think things will get better, it certainly doesn’t feel that way lately.
To be honest, I don’t even want to rely on medicine that’s so far only made me worse. Just hoping to be a part of a community that’s going through similar things and to share things that work/help. Thank you for your time.

Welcome Giants_fan....You will find by sharing your experiences, you will find others
who can relate in what you are going through. I will agree with you in that Klonopin
and alcohol are a dangerous mixture, as you are seeing. Looking forward to you joining
in on conversations. Glad you're here. x
As you mention you enjoy drinking on social settings perhaps you could try an alcohol free lager or beer? They won't react to your drug. It's fun to catch up with your mates - so adapting your drinking habits could help lessen the anxiety and depression.
