Dont get me wrong, I'm thankful for the job that I have now, been there 5 years. But I'm tired of it. Want something different, more growth.

I'm in the same situation, except it's been 15+ years doing this same job and I haven't even applied for something else much less gone on an interview! I think feeling trapped in this job may be the root cause of my anxiety.

Yesss I know how you feel ... I feel like that's part of where my anxiety comes from as well

i am at the point where i need to move on after almost 12 years. I know the anxiety of trying to find a job vs. trying to stay in a horrible one. Its a tough choice.

Yea I had some anxiety on switching but I know it's for sure something I want..... I just wish I didn't suck at doing interviews.. it definitely does not show what I'm capable of at all.... It sucks

Being nervous and anxious at an interview is normal. Just try to focus on your positive attributes and remember you can do it!

Also, try to think about the employer in a different way. Consider that the reason the potential employer is doing interviews is because they are in need of somebody's help. Try to feel sorry for them for being in that situation (for real!). Then, it stops being like an interview (where they ask questions and you try to give the right answers), and becomes more like a conversation about how you are going to help make their life easier. This puts the employer at ease and makes them comfortable with you.

I figured this out from eight years of running a business and interviewing people. I would long for someone to come in and just have a genuine talk with me, rather than wait for me to do the question/answer thing. That experience made me a lot better at doing interviews!

Thanks for the awesome advice .. I'll definitely keep this in mind on my next interview!

I know how you feel, I was at a job with good pay, good benefits, but there was thought or challenge in my job anymore. There was no way to progress higher. I think that even though you are stressed during these interviews, you will find something new. Being nervous is not an oddity at a job interview. I am sure you will find a job that you can find more challenging, and in the the long run be happier. Good Luck!

I'm all in favor of looking for something else if you are not happy or satisfied with your present job. But from past experience I would caution you to be very selective if you take another job...when you talk with a potential employer imo you need to have the mind set that you are interviewing them also.......remember, the grass is not always greener elsewhere. Good luck!

I know the grass isn't always greener on the other side .. but it has to be better than where I'm at now lol ... Hopefully ! โ˜บ๐Ÿ™

I completely understand....sometimes when I go to work I ask myself does it make sense to toil every day doing something I don't like to do? Then I walk in to work and get after it day after day in spite not enjoying what I do...on the bright side, it's much better than where I worked previously....we do what we have to do, and there is something to be said for a bit of financial security

How old are you? Sometimes we get bored with our jobs? It happens, job interviews are scary cause your being judged, that's Never comfortable. Why don't you practice an interview with somebody?

I know where your coming from, retail work was my first job after several years of it I was done. Not a easy job to do. I say reach for the Stars, what's most important is that your HAPPY, don't let anyone tell you different ๐Ÿ˜‰

If you can't stand yourself... then sit. Jk, jk, I'm happy that you do job interviews even though you are nervous. That is the only way to get over the fear. You will only get better at them. Make sure you aren't beating yourself up too much and I wish you good luck in the future.

Hello Kay. I used to chair interview panels and give advice to people going for interviews. I can message you with some suggestions if that would help?

Hold your head high, dress appropriate for the job you are interviewing for, know as much as possible about your strengths that would benefit them. If you can be confident in yourself and your abilities, this will surely relax you and you will appear to be an asset to your prospective employer.

Job interviews are stressful, but I applaud you for being brave and stepping out! Usually we are so hard on ourselves about things like this, so it is possible it wasn't as awful as you feel. I liked one comment above that suggested looking at interviews from a different perspective and the idea was awesome. When we interview for a job opening, we are just needing someone genuine, honest, and willing to take the job seriously. Credentials aren't even our first consideration because it's so hard to find employees who just want to do a job well done (even if they have seemingly excellent credentials). Wishing you all the best in your pursuit of a fresh change in job!

Itโ€™s amazing that youโ€™re looking for growth!!!! Thatโ€™s a great starting point, way way better than the typical one - money. Dare to grow! Dare to be better. I wish you tons of success!
