Sleep...that elusive creature I so desperately seek. I only sleep 2 - 4 hours most nights. The lack of sleep makes the depression worse. I've tried different meds, prescription and natural, and nothing works. I did a sleep study but it was inconclusive. Doctors can't explain why I don't sleep or why meds don't work. It affects every aspect of my life. I'm just so tired of being so tired.

Generally, depending on age some people may need as little as six hours. However as I get older I seem to sleep for around seven hours.
Lack of sleep can be caused by eating supper to late in the evening, I find having a very light supper at about 20;30 and go to bed at about 00;01 Eating just before bed forces the tummy to digest food when trying to sleep.
If you are also Depressed or have Anxiety you may be mulling over the day past and that can also cause problems. Try doing an activity you enjoy, if you watch television watch something that is easy to watch, Horror Movies and Murders or Violence can also affect sleep. Music or a problem easy to watch will help prepare the body for sleep.
If you are taking medications check on the box and understand any side effects they have some AD medications help with sleep take those about one hour before sleep, they may help.
Consider using MINDFULNESS Relaxation Technique when you go to bed, that will calm you and help you sleep.

I agree about to going to sleep on a full stomach, especially if you are taking lunesta,Ambien, or other sleep aids. I make a point of eating dinner a full five hours before going to bed....on an empty stomach sleep meds are far more effective. If I go to bed with food in my stomach Ilways sleep poorly.
I don't, and won't, take sleeping pills. I tried them and absolutely hated them. They helped me fall asleep but I still woke up throughout the night and didn't get good sleep. The next day I'd be in such a fog I could barely function. I'm sure there's something out there that will help so I'll keep looking.
Valerian root is all natural and I find it to be effective
I've tried it and unfortunately it didn't help nor did melatonin.
Have you tried CBD Oil? I have been having trouble sleeping also and it seems to help me some. I also drink some bone broth about 2 hours before bed and it seems to calm me and help me sleep.
