Has anyone taken Trazodone for sleep? Wondering how hard it was to come off of it.

I haven't taken that but have tried just about everything else. So far klonopin has been the only thing that helps me sleep without the hangover in the morning. I have tried lunesta, ambien, seroquel and some other long ago.

As far as getting off of your current med, you can ask your doctor or pharmacist. Google is an option too.

Sleep problems seem to go hand in hand with depression.

Thank you 😊..Ahh..klonopin! I was on that for about 10 yrs. and it worked so well. My psychiatrist wanted me to get away from it, and has me on buspirone for anxiety . It was horrible going through that withdrawal. I've been on Trazodone for about 2 months, but with effexor and buspirone its just to much for my body to handle. She's going to taper me off of it, I just hope it won't too hard.

Did you have any side effects from klonopin? Some people talk about memory loss which I'm starting to get but I'm also getting older and sometimes I still have sleep issues.

I take 1 mg at night.

It made me a little forgetful, but the benefits made it worth it. I'd like to go back on it and get some relief, but some Dr's don't like to prescribe it anymore. Buspirone works ok, but not as well as klonopin.

In a weird way I guess I got lucky with getting it prescribed because in a sleep study it showed that I have Periodic Limb Movement Disorder which is kind of like restless leg syndrome. Klonopin is used to treat that so my doctor doesn't have a problem prescribing it for me.

I'm glad they prescribed it to you for that, it sounds really painful. I hope you keep feeling relief from it! It also helped me with my neck, I had my C5/6 replaced with a titanium plate.

How did the plate work out? I have a bulging disc at the same location. A neurosurgeon suggested fusion but I'm holding off on it for as long as possible.

As far as the sleep disorder, I didn't know that I had it until the sleep study. The sleep tech said I was running a marathon in my sleep. My daughter would want to sleep in my bed but I told her that she kicks too much. I have since realized that it is me that was doing the kicking.

It definitely helped getting the plate. I was crying every day with so much pain. I still have a lot of pain daily, but nothing compared to what it was. I have 2 more levels that are going bad, but I'm trying to hold off on another surgery for awhile. I'll keep you in my prayers, that kind of pain is horrible! I hope you're getting some restful sleep now, that sounds terrible!

I was on Trazodone but it made my anxiety really bad and I had to stop taking it. Now I can't fall asleep without it.

That's what I was afraid of. Maybe a lower dose would be better for me. It sucks not being able to sleep.

trazadone worked for me for sleep, but I stopped taking it because the next morning I woke up feeling like I had been drugged. It is just a side effect, I guess you can decide to change the med or just live with it. It is up to you.

That's how it makes me feel. I can set alarms to wake up, but its so hard.

i'm on trazadone now and have still feel groogy in the morning. If I take the lower dosage i cant sleep. Don't think I'll get off of it right now. I was on Buspirone but my dr took me off of it and stated that its not effective.

I'm afraid thats what will happen, not being able to sleep if I go off of it. So frustrating.

When They First Tried Me On Trazodone ? They Gave Me 100 mg Tablets. I Woke Up Feeling The Exact Same Way. A Few Weeks Later When I Was Back At The Doc, I Told Him, "How Do I Know If This Is Helping Me Sleep If I Wake Up Feeling Like I Have A Hangover or/ A Poor Nights Rest ?" I Also Asked Him [ because people with heart problems at that time shouldn't be on trazdone ] " What's The Long Term Effects On A Person With A Healthy Heart ?"... He Said No One Knows. Then I Said, " Well ? I Won't Take It Anymore Either !"

[ now, that was about 30 years ago keep in mind ] So ? He Put Me On Something Called "Remeron". 1st Pill ? I Was A ZOMBIE For 3 Days !* That Was It For Me On That Too !

Over The Years I've Come To Find Out That Trazodone Is Actually A Pretty Safe Medication & Antidepressant Too. Had A Doc Put Me On 50mg & It Worked Fine.

But That Was Until I Got To My Appointment With My Psychiatrist. What Works For Me Now ?

BENADRYL !* I Take 2 [ sometimes rarely 3 ] At Bedtime & It Works Great. [ the max dose is 3 a day ] No Serious Side Effects Even With Meds I'm On.

But I Would Take 50mg Of Trazodone Again If I Needed It.

Thank you for all that information! I might try the 50 mg, and see how it goes. If I go off of it, I might try the Benadryl. It sounds like it might work for me. We'll see, it's always hard trying to find the right combo of meds to work. Thank you again TriggerPoint 😊
