Natural approach

I know some people may disagree with me but I have completey stopped taking my antidepressants. I am a very natural person who likes to use natural products on my body. Over the course of 6 months I have switched all my skincare products to more natural brands. I look at ingridients of things such as hair products, lotion, deodorant and even prefer the benefits of essential oils. It has done my skin WONDERS! I have always battled skin issues and all doctors would ever do is prescribe me more shit. The problem was the products themselves yet they never suggested trying natural remedies. So i am using the same method with depression. I was taking 100mg of Sertraline but instead I am trying natural approach such as going to a therapist, meditation, journaling and just being a lot more positive in general and I feel like in just a short couple of weeks I have made more progress than I have ever made on prescriptions! It may not be for everyone but I am tired of any side effects of any prescriptions. There are so many amazing things on this earth that are better for our bodies than constant prescriptions. Sometimes I think most doctors are sponsored by new prescriptions to get people to rely on them and Its not going to be me anymore.

B-complex (& lots of B6), magnesium and 5-htp, along with a high-quality multi-vitamin, homeopathic meds, BHRT and a whole food, plant-based living enzyme diet have caused a 180 degree turn from my former symptoms and I spread the word about natural, Functional medicine because it works long term. Eventually these synthetic meds stop working and/or destroy the liver’s ability to metabolize anything, the gut’s ability to balance its microbiome, numb you to oblivion and destroy your libido. It’s not sustainable, it’s expensive and it’s going to build up toxins in the body to rely on synthetic meds long term, just my opinion. They certainly have their place in the lives of those with bipolar or other conditions, where they can be life-savers. But big pharma is sinking it’s teeth into our collective jugular. Change your thoughts. Adopt new rituals for well-being. Read books. Make your local farmers market your new grocery store. Eat local, seasonal, fresh, organic. Believe the hype. Refined wheat ravages the thyroid, don’t eat it. Hydrate your cells, the brain cannot function when it’s dehydrated. If you’re anxious, get magnesium in you. If you’re in pain, honor it as a signal for change and a call to action. Don’t numb that vital signal and push it away. There is a way to heal yourself naturally but it takes work, faith and research. Thanks for this post.

Yoga is helpful too as it helps the nervous system. It can help depression. As you are finding this approach helpful then there may be no problems from withdrawal of prescription. I like natural ingredients in skin care too - they can be so helpful.

Vitamins too can help B12 in tandem with iron levels. All the B vitamins taken with vitamin C are helpful. Think it's marvellous to feel so much better using other ways which are drug free!

very well said Jozey! I totally agree with you. I have personally been using natural products too. Currently I am facing some challenges with my hair but then found this supplement made from natural minerals, vitamins and herb extracts and it has been amazing. Completely stopped my hair loss!

I know use these forms of natural vitamins and supplements all my issues and it has been great.

What are some trusted products you use?

I love this post, I have come to the conclusion that prescription drugs, moreso those for mental health are questionable.

The times I have taken anti depressants, they have made me worse than ever.

I don't want long term meds, I would rather just be able to get help when my symptoms are unbearable is anxiety and sleep problems, if I can regulate my sleep I have a good chance of getting back on track.

But the GP has refused me sleeping tablets, saying they can become addictive (never had a problem with shirt course only) but they insist I should take quetiapine and not stop taking it, hmmmm so sleeping tablets maybe once every 12/18 months Vs quetiapine daily for an uncertain amount of time ? it's a business with huge profits, I have no faith that the head meds are for patients best interest
