Bursts of feeling overwhelmed, what do I do?

Many times throughout the week, all of a sudden these random bursts of me feeling extremely anxious and overwhelmed runs through my body. It often happens when I think about deadlines or future projects/ things that are still unfinished. Does this happen to anyone else and what do you do to try to minimize it?

YES, sometimes out of nowhere. A couple weeks back it was that but I started to cry. It was pretty rough but I got through it. I get triggered though the day sometimes, so The thing that has helped when those moments happen is to breathe deeply and slowly. I know that may sound like too little but it has helped a lot. I finally had enough and downloaded an app called headspace. It’s for meditation, and though I’m only starting, it has helped me to be able to come down off of the burst of anxiety and take a few moments to breathe.

Fair warning though, to get the full app experience you have to pay a monthly fee. I’m only using the free version right now but it’s helping tremendously.

Best of luck and we are always here if you need to talk more.

Hi. When I feel horrifically overwhelmed it gets to the point I have to write down how im feeling. Swearing included. A literal heart to heart of all the things bothering me in either bullet point format or paragraphs.

I have a book I use to write in, not really as a diary but more of a mood journal. Whenever situations are really stressing me out. Otherwise I love to close the blinds and just nap the time away until I feel I can at least write down to myself how I feel.

Hi @lola515 I do sometimes feel anxious too when I'm in similar situations and what really helps me is to breathe deeply and reassure myself of how I've coped in the past successfully. Sometimes I also call my husband or my sister and their encouragement and prayers also really help me to stay calm and have the confidence that I can cope with the situation.

Wishing you much strength and peace of mind now and for the future,

All the best.
