What do you do when you get jittery and overwhelmed?

There are moments when something goes completely wrong (atleast in my eyes) or small things add up and I get into adrenaline mode. I think faster, move faster, and be in high gear during the situation or however long. Typically it happens when I'm either on a time crunch, angry about something I can't control, and mostly overwhelmed with all the things I think I have to do. Then when its over and I'm supposed to relax, I notice my hands are shaking, my heart is still beating fast, and I don't want to eat/talk/relax. I do force myself to eat and try to express what I'm feeling sometimes to people I trust. But mostly I recluse and don't feel like doing anything the rest of the day or sometimes days. I feel myself tensing up just thinking about it. Wondering if anyone can relate or if theres a name to these types of episodes.

They are called panic attacks. I have a few go to things. 1. Meditation on YouTube or an app called insight timer 2. I have a dare app that will talk you through what's going on for free version 3. Progressive muscle flex and release 4. Sometimes I cry to dump the extra adrenaline. Yes it is frustrating and I still feel tired for a bit but I don't get them as often anymore they really are far and few. Hope that helps. The shaking is extra hormones (adrenaline and serotonin) making it happen nothing else. I have health anxiety to go along with the body feels so it's like oh it's my heart, brain, etc etc... I have really come a long way from how I used to be. Gentle hugs you will come out the other side it just takes time and practice.

Yes my therapist years ago. It didn't help me personally. I even tried the rubber band snapping on the wrist thing. And taping is hard to do in public. I do breathing though.

I find that deep breathing helps a lot to calm myself down, not tried tapping

Deep breathing stimulates the vagus nerve. Tapping is more of a shakara in that is suppose to wake up your other senses and bring you into the present. Just couldn't get into it but you start by tapping with fingertips right below the collar bone, on the breast bone, at the arm pits, the third eye on your forehead, the top of your head and the karate chop fat part of your hand either one. While reciting out loud or in your mind positive affirmations. Like I said not my cup of tea. I like to breath and feel the cool air rush in and the warm air flow out stimulates my vagus nerve almost instantly. I also find it works to stop the chatter if I have either a guided or just something that soothes me in the background to bring me present. It really is a just a preference and mine is the latter. But if you would like to try tapping look it up it is a guy named Nick Ortner who does The Tapping Solution. Do not pay for anything everything tapping can be found free for what you need if it's something you like. I hope this helped gentle hugs.

Thanks for all the tips. I got the Dare app. Uptil now, I've heard of panic attacks but didn't think to connect them to my "overwhelmed" episodes. I actually end up crying too and then feel alittle better afterwards. I do need to try deep breathing more. I've looked into tapping and will try it out.
