I'm so worried about failing m...

I'm so worried about failing my course because I constantly feel depressed it stops me from putting effort into a piece of work like I love sketching but I can only draw for a few minutes then want to put my work away cause I feel too depressed to carry on doing it and it's like this with most of my work and I've been feeling like this for a long time. I'm just going to end up failing and I start uni next year I won't get accepted if I don't get good grades. 😑😢 My parents are disappointed at me because of it and my tutors kind of are too but no one them will understand. Please help.

Does creating or working on art make you feel content?

I like art always have I just can't put effort into it like I love sketching but I can't draw properly because I feel depressed.

Have you heard of writers block? Do you think your creative art skills have somehow

been blocked by unwanted thoughts and lack of concentration? Do you think the pressure from staff and college is too high at the moment? If so do you have to do other study work with academic standards before you enter university or do you have to give a portfolio to the university college for them to look at before interview?

Expect your mind has gone blank with all the pressure and you need sleep and rest.

Tips on sleep are to cut down on light in bedroom, as this helps to create melatonin which helps you sleep. A hot milky drink contains opioids, which can help people sleep though it is an old wives tale for many. Another suggestion is to have your sight tested, and opt for tinted specs such as grey which can help the eyes rest. Look at some of your back work -

it may inspire you. The important thing is to show your own unique style which at the moment is difficult. If there are other problems with gynaecology, you are getting PMT

or mood swings, then may be you should go to the doctor. Take care. Switch off for a day or so to free your mind.

Hi Jinn - as both my kids studied art but took different routes - if you really want to go to art college then you can study through by going on different study courses such as a G.A.D and then go on to do further qualifications. My daughter runs an art gallery, and went through the degree course which included history of art and illustration. She then went on to do a post graduate teaching course in a year. She passed this and taught children for 5 years. She wanted a career connected to art but did not live in the right area. Later she did another course in gallery management an M.A. which gave her the confidence to open her own gallery. My son left school aged 16 and did an HND course which is difficult, but he again lived in the wrong place so he went into social services work. Now he is now a skilled fine artist, but works locally, using his artistic talents, to help support himself and his family. It's finding the right advice and career choice which helps - your library or online services and even citizens advice bureau might have career information.
