At the very end of my first post I mentioned this speech by Churchill, please read it. It gives you hope, strength and courage. Most of us here need exactly that. I actually have it engraved in a ring I wear all the time; only the phrase "We shall never surrender" though.
Hope it lifts you up as much as it lifts me up.
This is amazing... I feel like your post is divine intervention!! just before logging on here, I told an attending psychiatrist at this inpatient facility how I can't seem to get out of this dark hole , and feel buried by layers and layers of self loathing, self doubt and self pity. He then talked about how despite all his inner demons Churchill battled at one time (self loathing, bipolar), he ‘faked it til he made it ‘ and by doing so he eventually freed himself of the shackles of his mind ...and the rest is history. That is true courage. Today is a new day for all of us, despite what troubles are eating at our core. I am now going to read that speech , so Thank you for sharing !!

His speeches are a call for courage in the face of despair and terrible odds. I hope you find them as inspiring as me. And yes, after the tremendous defeat in Gallipoli during WWI he retreated only to come back and inspire the world to fight war.
As your username says, this is a quest. Trial and error until we find something that helps us, as many times as needed "for without victory, there is no survival". We must never give up looking for that.

Churchill called his depression 'Black dog'. No meds in those days, he used brandy and lots of it. He was 'tight' for most of the War according to his Generals but some heavy drinkers can still do a good day's work (though I'm not recommending it😥). I hope you find respite soon from your own problems.
Thank you , Jeff. I appreciate that. Yes, the psychiatrist mentioned that, too. He said he called it that , because depression followed him everywhere , like a little black dog.
Feeling very on the edge but managing to find gratefulness

The question is, we are practicing gratefulness. But are we hopeful?
