Does anyone else choke on things when they’re anxious. When I am generally anxious I have a hard time swallowing food but sometimes I can show some symptoms of anxiety but not be full on panic attack and I try to eat and it’s like my brain just forgets that I have to swallow.
I hope I’m not the only one.
What can I do about this?

No, you aren't alone. During your panic attack, your body interprets an innocuous physical sensation as a cause for alarm, so your body kicks into emergency mode, physically for sure. Dry mouth and trouble swallowing happen a lot to people when their having an attack.
It’s so scary though, especially when your not “consciously” anxious, it makes me feel like I’m basically killing myself but forcibly choking if that makes sense
Hey there , I went through a very rough year, I was about 16 when I first had a panic attack and I was eating , couldn’t swallow all of a sudden that lead into full on panic ( also had never had one before so thought I was dying) so then after that every meal time I was scared of it happening again . So for about a year I was eating easy things to swallow , lost so much weight it was scary . I’m much better now with that ,I just have different symptoms now .
It still happens from time to time but I know it’s nothing now !
Thank you for sharing! It’s such a scary thing but it only happens when I’m really anxious or really thinking about what I’m eating, but I absolutely hate it
